Howdy all,
I had been looking at new and used 4Runners for most of 2010 and came across a private party '07 V6 SR5 4WD with 35k miles last week that I couldn't pass up. This will replace our '05 Honda CR-V with some more space for our growing family and true 4WD capability that the V just doesn't have (though it has conquered some pretty impressive trails through the years). My "new" T4R will see duty as my wife's daily driver as a stay-at-home mom along with our road trips and off-road adventures in the Sierra Nevada and Mojave Desert. I can't think of a better vehicle for what we like to do.
I am a pretty hard-core DIY'er from home projects such as the addition of two rooms to the installation of my 6.0kW solar panel system so I've done all of my vehicle maintenance and modification myself for the past 12 years or so. My plans are to do anything that my T4R needs myself, so I'll be tapping the maintenance sections here to get up to speed. This is the first non-Honda vehicle I've owned and my daily driver is an '08 4-door Civic Si that I've tuned to 242HP/174lbft at the hubs. Quite a difference between a truck that redlines 3000 RPM below the 8600 RPM I have the fuel cutoff set at on my Si! Different hammers for different nails, right?
Anyway, I hope to add value to the T4R community in time but in the mean time I'm going to suck as much knowledge out of your heads as I can get away with! Thanks for having me!
By the way, if anyone knows a good place to get replacement second-row headrests would you let me know? The previous owner kept the seats folded and couldn't find the headrests. Fortunately we have three in car seats at this point so it's not an urgent problem to be solved.
