Hey guys,

A newbie here...just found out from dealer that my 07 4runner V6 SR5 has a leaking front shock, since I need new tires all round should I replace all 4 shocks, like to keep it original as possible? Thanks.

Hell yeah replace all 4 shocks! Its as good a reason as u will ever get. Upgrade to some Bilsteins for sure. As for tires, I highly recommend BFGoodrich. Either the ATs or the KM2s if u go off-road at all. Oh and welcome!

Welcome! Do you have XREAS shocks? Usually if an XREAS system shock is leaking then it has lost pressure in the system. Since the shocks are crosslinked, you would have to also replace the shock that's diagonally opposite of it. For example driver side front and passenger side rear. Here's a good write up on explaining the XREAS system.

Lots of different options for tires and suspension depending on your intended uses. Check out these two links.

Need shock advise

No XREAS on my SR5. Not much done off road, mainly urban streets, wanting to keep as close to original shocks...need to replace all 4 tires too. Should I go thru dealer or internet? Tokico seems to come up abit here for original shocks. Thanks.

I can understand u wanting to keep it 'original' and all, but its not like ur maintaining the value of a Shelby... Always upgrade when u can, it'll only enhance the reliability. Ur not sticking with the original tire brand are u?

You should look at the Bilstein shocks. They have been a great shock for a lot of 4R owners.

Need shocks

I have Yokohama Geolander HTS tires...may go same route again cause they lasted close to 60,000 miles so far. I dont want a stiff shock if thats what Bilstein offers as opposed to a smoother shock such as the originals. Thanks.
