Just looking for some A's to my Q's

New to this sight and I also just bought my first 2008 T4R Ive had it for about a week now & so far I love it & like many of you I would like to customize it a little ...I have bought a toytec 3inch spacer lift for it already still waiting to install but im wondering what size tires I would be able to put on it ..I originally wanted to put 285x75r17 BFG A/T's on it but I wonder if 285s would be to big for my set up I've seen some pics with 3in lifts and 285's but looks kinda stuffed ( I happen to like the stuffed look ) just wondering if anybody out here has the same set up as what I'm thinking or similar and could tell me do your tires rub?...have you had any problems? have you had to do anything special to fit your tires?...anything helps thanks guys:shrug:

typically I've seen people can fit 285s with the toytech lift but you'll need wheel spacers and some trimming of the fender liners and such. You may also want some new UCAs as well as Ive seen some rubbing issues fixed with those and that was with smaller tires but similar lift.

It all depends on how much mpg and power you are willing to loose. do a search. This has been discussed to death.

Yea I'm not really worried about MPG or power being an issue.. I don't think I will lose to much with only a 3 in. lift and 285's ..I Recently helped my buddy put the same lift & tires on his FJ & he claims to not have lost any MPG & I've never heard him say anything about the loss of any power. I just didn't know about my tire size being compatible with my amount of lift or what else I would have to do to make it work ..Thanks for your guys tips!! hopefully I can get some Pics up soon

I went with and OME 3 inch lift and I'm running 285/70/17 BGF AT's with aftermarket rims. You can find my build thread or garage for pictures. I'm pretty positive with stock rims you will need spacers to avoid the UCA's. I managed to avoid needing the body mount chop, however I have had to trim a ton in the fender to avoid rubbing, all the way up to the washer bottle and some of the front bumper as well. I'm not in full alignment either. I have a set of LR UCA's on the way however to correct this.

I would ask your buddy again as I don't see 285's with a 3 inch lift not affecting MPG. I have an Fj and everyone I know who has one and has lifted and gone to 285's has taken a MPG hit. It may not be a concern for you but your MPG will get worse...

Another question

Would it be good/make sense/even be possible to use my 3/2 toytec ultimate spacer lift with the FJ shocks?....

I'm a little confused... The toytec ultimate lift consists of replacement front coil overs and rear coils, the toytec lift/leveling kit has spacers (but I haven't seen it referred to as 'ultimate' anywhere).

Either way both kits will work with the shocks. The rear shocks may be too short but I haven't heard of anyone else installing a spacer lift overextend the rears.

Sorry I have the FJ/4runner 3inch spacer lift with toytec rear coils...I thought i remembered it saying ultimate had to go back & see what the website said
