Just Ordered GY Wrangler Silent Armors

So I just got the tires installed on Friday, and what do you know, we have a winter storm on Saturday! Perfect test for these bad boys. Unbelievable traction in fresh snow, slush, and 5 inches of snow with 1/2 inch of sleet on top! I even took her off roading in the snow on our 2 acre lot. Locked the differential and had a lot of fun. The only time they slipped was when I was exiting the lot, since you go up hill (up the ditch) to the road. I'll post pics another time.

Overall, great tires!

We got another 4 inches of snow mixed with sleet, ice, freezing rain, rain......the whole bunch of absolutely disgusting shyte.

Drove home after working an all-nighter and the roads sucked. Just dropped 5-10 mph off of the speed and cruised with no problems. I even drove into the ridges of snow in the middle of the lane and middle of the road. Absolutely exceptional traction. The truck did not budge at all.

Drove into an unplowed parking lot of this wonderful mix and could not get the rear of the truck to spin at all. The tires just bit right into it like it was pure pavement. Driving down dirt roads with this wonderful mix on it at 25+ and SLAMMED on the brakes and the truck just held firm and true. Minimal sliding forward, the truck did not move from a straight line once.

I did my best to break it loose and just could not do it. The VSC kicked on once though.

Very impressed with these tires. We'll have to see how they wear though.

That's odd that they have such good reviews on this forum, since Wranglers come stock on some Fords. Yet everyone hates the Dunlops that come stock on 4runners.
 
I think these silent armors are an entirely different breed of tire. I absolutely love them, and they have made a great truck even better!

Ok, so I'll try to make it a priority tomorrow to snap some pics and get them up. I got home, ate dinner, and threw SuperBad into the blu ray player. Fricken hilarious! McLovin!

Ben , since we are on our second snow , how are they working ?

My Revos have 36k on them , pretty slick on the streets.
 
They truly are unbelievable! They simply don't stray from target, and you really have to try to break them free. I feel so much more confident driving in adverse conditions with these wrapped around my rims. And that's saying a lot, since I felt fairly confident before. Last Saturday I actually made up excuses to feed the wife so that I could go out driving in it alone! Even going up hill in thick snow, no problems at all. I really can't say enough about them. While it was good before, it's much better now. It's similar to going from summer performance tires to Blizzaks in my previous Civic: Night and Day!

Definitely a great tire folks. I wish I could figure out how to post the pics myself.

These are great tires, and as mentioned are entirely different than the other Wrangler tires. Good Year's "Wrangler" name only menas that the tires are for trucks & SUVs and there are a variety of Wrangler lines out there. The Silent Armors are sort of the true off-road variant of these and do look similar in tread patter at first glance. Go to Tire Rack and look the tread patters and you will see what I mean, but these tires are sweet and I look forward to getting a long life out of them........Now if I could just get a real blizzard out here.......All in due time I guess.

Thanks for posting those Airbur. I really appreciate it.

As you guys can see these fill out the wheel wells a bit more. These are the 265 70 17s.

The ice you see in the treads is actually very little. It was about 18 degrees when I got home last night and about 10 degrees when I took these pics a little while ago. The ice has not had a chance to melt at all.

I had these tires in 275/70/17 and I loved them. I recently came across a set of 16" TRD FJ Gun metal wheels at a great price and had to get them. They had BFG AT's on them.

I have had the BFG's on for about 3 weeks now and I miss my Goodyear Silent Armors. They are so much quiter and smoother. Hopefully soon I will be switching back to the Goodyears.
