Just ordered HID kit from Xenondepot

After months of contemplating I ordered an Extreme H11 4300k (Philips) kits from Xenon depot.

I was torn between the 4300k Philips and the 5000k, I read so many reviews and one really detailed review from somebody on the Toyotanation that helped me make my final decision. The kit will probably arrive by the weeks end, hopefully I can find some time to install it and post some pics.

Does anybody have pics of their 4runner with the 4300k bulbs they can share?

I just put the 5k xtreme setup in. It's an astounding change and the projectors do a fantastic job of distributing the light. Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise.

For the record, I've got the same setup. The Philips bulbs are well worth the extra cost. Outstanding color and output.

I have the exact same setup and love it. I complimented it with a 3000k HID kit in my fog lights. These are some pictures I took awhile back. Don't have a good down the street shot and my phone camera doesn't really do it justice.

I went yellow with the fogs too. Nokya bulbs as I recall, and left the bulbs as halogen. It's a good complement with the Philips 4300ks

Not quite what you wanted, but....

I would take the 4300k personally over 5000k. The 5000k might add a "high-end" look, but I prefer the more natural look of 4300k

I also bought the H11 Xtreme 5000k HID Kit from XenonDepot. I've had them for 4 years, and never had problems with them. I've had them on my 2014 4Runner, and transferred them to my 2016 4Runner. In my opinion, it's the best kit! and no, I do not get the high beams thrown at me from oncoming traffic.

Had my kit for about two years now. Great value and good company to order from. I have the 5000k but honestly wish I had gotten the 4300 just because it is a little less white.

I'm REALLY surprised the haters havent said anything yet. Usually by this time, the OP has essentially been accused of drowning puppies for putting HIDs in a projector housing.

The reality of it is they do a more than acceptable job of controlling the light. The issue is when some homie puts a 7k kit in his riced out 89 civic.

Here's a super-complicated scatterplot chart that shows how much light is lost, and how many flashes you'll get. It also shows my superiority to you low-lifes with plug-n-play HID kits. You lowely, non-retrofitting scofflaws...

I run 5Ks in my non-retrofit halogen projectors, but aimed very carefully....but around here it is the wild west....

headlights glazed over-just run your brights 100% of the time, or upgrade the bulbs and never even think of cleaning the lens

You are not sure of dawn/dusk, its ok to drive w/o any lights till the next day

I've been wanting to upgrade and I see they have a 15% sale going on right now. It says "ends today", but not sure if that's been up for a while or not.
Either way I'm probably going with the 9006 HID Extreme kit with the Phillips 4300K in my 2005 SR5

Don't over think it - from what I've seen they are very close. I have 5000K and I find them to be a perfect white with just a very fine purple hint to them that seems equal to a lot of stock HID systems that higher end cars have.

You may want to upgrade the lamps first to at least projectors, or you're going to be scattering light everywhere and messing with Texas... The non-projector lamps are not good with higher output...

Best:

So what you're saying is get 2006+ headlight housings first?
I've read very little on the swap but doesn't the little trim piece underneath the housing need swapped as well?
What other issues or mods needed for the housing swap?

Google CCP Headlight Lens Restorer. Harbor freight near me has them on "all the time" sale for like 7.99 or 10 bucks.
Works great.

In his signature he's an 07 so would assume he's already outfitted with the factory projectors

Yep, you would want to buy 06-09 housings that already have the halogen projectors in them and then install the kit. You could do a full retrofit too, but you would need to buy the 06-09 housings anyway (05 down don't work with the kits), and then go through the work of pulling apart the housings and installing the HID specific projectors... The full retro is a costlier option, but would give you a much sharper cutoff.

With that said, it's a bigger undertaking than simply slapping in a kit in a halogen reflector lens. You'll need projector housings either way unless you just want blue looking headlights that get flashes from people...

Honestly, I haven't done much research on the auxiliary pieces needed to put 06+ lamps in. I'm reading here that you need the trim pieces and a new grill... If that's the case and you need a new grill, crack open the lamps and do the retrofit -- it'll probably be cost neutral...
