Just ordered HID kit from Xenondepot

I was referring to njsanna -- not lcbjr77

06-09 have projectors. That is, unless you did a retro-retrofit and swapped your projectors for reflectors... :)

So what you're saying is it's pretty pointless to install the XD HID 9006 kit in stock 2005 headlamp housings because it was designed for halogen bulbs?

I started reading threads and it seems that other than a few early HID adopters everyone swaps out to 2006+ housings or retrofits a projector.

[MENTION=96708]Erkelbot[/MENTION] can comment in detail but my opinion is more along the lines of if you have standard reflector housings (not projector of some sort) it's downright rude to run HIDs as it is most likely blinding everyone driving in the opposite direction/toward you (unless you've pointed them so far downward, at which point you're probably not getting any useful road lighting out of them).
 
That's exactly what I'm saying. Get a halogen projector at a minimum before thinking about going the kit route. Reflectors and HIDs are bad news.

The great headlight haze, is nothing to be afraid of...all the kits and systems are designed to make you feel like this is a "process" but really just get some high grit sandpaper (1000-1500) and some non grit polishing compound...once you do it, you may wish you had done it sooner
 
Installed them last night...OMG what a difference. It will be nice to be able to see at night... I live in the woods and my town has very few street lights on it's roads.

Also restored the headlights, the 4R looks almost brand new

That is wrong and misleading statement. You don't need 06-09 headlights to do retrofit, in fact, 03-05 headlights are MUCH, MUCH easier to retrofit compare to 06-09. The reason is, you got that huge reflector bowl of 03-05 headlights to accommodate for any HID projector, and I mean ANY. LS460, TL, even monstrous Q45 will fit there with room to spare. Now try to squeeze any of listed projectors in 06-09 housing - not going to happen without some serious modifications.
 
Sorry, I could've been more clear… I was specifically referring to the kits sold by the retrofit source. The more simple, plug-and-play applications to work with -- all in one box. Yes, you can retrofit 03-05 housings. And yes, they are deeper housings that allow for a multitude of different projectors from other vehicles (really nice lenses). It does require a little bit more thought though, and more additional fabrication and tinkering. Not nearly as easy of a project as simple plug-and-play kit.

I was torn between the 4300k Philips and the 5000k, I read so many reviews and one really detailed review from somebody on the Toyotanation that helped me make my final decision. The kit will probably arrive by the weeks end, hopefully I can find some time to install it and post some pics.

Does anybody have pics of their 4runner with the 4300k bulbs they can share?

I still have to spend some time and get mine adjusted correctly, I did a quick height adjustment in the garage close to the wall to lower them some... they're still off... I'm gonna try it again outside against the closed garage door and see if I can get them aligned properly. I don't know if I'll be a full 25' away but I'll give it a try

The fog lamps are 4300k too. Same kit just different bulbs. I'm not sure why they turned out looking blue in the picture. Probably just the difference between the halogen lamp and a projector lamp. In person they're the same exact pure white color
