Just purchased a 2008 white 4Runner sport V8 4x4

Hi Guys,

New to the forum. I just purchased a 2008 white sport V8 4x4. My first 4Runner. I'm picking it up later today and I'll post pictures soon. It's the sport's model with the following options:

50 State Emissions
Leather Steering Wheel w/Cruise Control
Value Package includes: Power Tilt/Slide
Moonroof w/Sunshade, Double Decker Cargo
System w/Cargo Net, Garage Door Opener
w/Homelink, Auto Dimming Rear View Mirror
w/Compass, and Rear Spoiler w/Center High
Mounted Stop Lamp
Daytime Running Lights
Sport Package
Carpet Floor Mats/Cargo

As I said I've never owned a 4Runner before. Heck, I've never owned a 4 wheel vehicle before so I'll probably have some newbie type questions for you guys. I'm pretty excited. Love the forum as I've been lurking for a short time now. Like I said I'm excited but I'm also a little worried at the same time. I've been reading the stories about the infamous "clunk" in the 4Runner drivetrain. Crossing my fingers that mine will not have this issue. Is this problem really that widespread? But I can't wait to get the truck home and explore my new toy! More later. Just wanted to introduce myself.

Welcome to the forum, and enjoy the new toy. It seems the driveline clunk is an issue for many of us. I grease the driveline every 5k Miles, and the clunk stops for a few K's then starts again.

Welcome. Enjoy the vehicle. I bought mine about 4 months ago and every time I get in the car it's almost like the 1st time. great vehicle.

Congrats!! The driveline clunk is part of the design, so expect to have it.

I don't have the clunk. When new I lubed the driveshaft with synthetic grease.

Thanks for the warm welcome. As I said earlier I'll post some pics as soon as I can. Right now we've got these damn fires out here in California and it's keeping things real smokey with lots of ash in the air. One thing that caught me by surprise about the 4Runner was the radio. I got the basic single disc CD/radio when I bought the car (they did not have upgraded radio's and I did not want to wait 4-6 weeks for one). But you know it does not sound too bad. I was kind of surprised. The dealer told me that if I ever wanted to upgrade that it would be easier to upgrade from the basic radio anyway. But so far I love the truck!

Yah the stock radio is ok not great but ok. take care. my daughter and her husband and animals are in La Mesa. So far it's ok there but getting really bad other places.

They have an escape plan to Coronado and with the 4Runner and the emergency pack we all made up this year.....
