Well morning of July 3rd on the way to work, a "didn't see me" when he was turning and hit me going 50mph. Just heard from insurance and they declared it a total loss:yield:...140k miles and there giving me 12500 for the excellent condition I kept it in..I'm going to miss my 05 V8 sport but at least I'm getting fair value back...on to car shopping now..

Jesus... We might be on the same boat.. I got rear ended on July 4th, and I just went to an auto body shop and they said it could be a total loss...

Thanks everyone. No one was hurt! This 4runner destroyed that tundra. Totally twisted it around. I came out without a scratch. Still can't believe the guy didn't see me. You guys really think I could get more than 12.5k?? With 140k miles on it? I'm gonna try but we will see. That's more than I thought I would get already.

Edmunds appraisal has this at $9300. I think you were fairly treated. This was for a clean stock unit, not counting what you may of added.

$12.5k is a very fair offer. That's full retail value, if not slightly higher.

Around here 06 V8 Sports in very good condition with 150k miles are selling at the car lot right now for $12k.

Glad you're OK, could have been a lot worse.

My 105k 2009 SR5 was totaled in February, 19.5k.... It's worth arguing with them.

Oh and take ALL your stuff, it's worth your time to strip your parts off it before they take it away... Wish I had pulled my trd cat back. I ran out of time.

Wow that sucks...

Theft and accident are my 2 biggest fears because I know I won't be able to find another single owner dealer maintained creampuff of a 4Runner.

Lucky I don't daily drive my 4Runner anymore... stays in the garage until its time for off-road fun.

Good luck with the search for a replacement... I truly think the 4th Gen was the best generation of 4Runner. I have a 5th Gen too but it doesn't feel the same.

Just got $13.3k for my 07 SR5 V8 4x4 with 175k miles. 12.5 seems reasonable one state over and a few years older

Make sure they only use v8 4x4 as comps. Caught my insurance on that

Might I suggest a lexus GX?

GX would be nice. I love them lifted, reminds me of Iceland. Over there they are GX bodies badged as Land Cruisers, and they are everywhere.

So in the mean time I am going to purchase a commuter car. in 6 months my commute will be 70 miles round trip. What are the best commuter cars out there for less than 12K?? Thanks for your help.

I went that route. Pretty happy with it.
Things I like:
Nice leather, awesome stereo (on the Mark Levinson models)
no such thing as a 2wd or V6 GX470
Auto up/down on all windows
Side-swing rear door (doesn't interfere with my roof box)
Heated seats/mirrors/dual zone climate
Auto windshield wipers
Toyota reliability

Things I don't like:
a lot less cup holders, and smaller (don't fit my Nalgene water bottle)
a lot less storage room
2nd row seats don't fold flat
Side-swing door (opens in wrong direction. Seriously. If you parallel park in the USA, the door opens towards the curb, and you have to walk around it to get from the curb to your cargo)

First gen acura TSX.

I'm also partial to 2015+ golfs.
