late 90's Honda Civic wagon. You'll spend at MOST 2k (yes, 2k), and it'll be a reliable DD.

If you want to use up that 12k, a newer civic, or another 4runner.

I got about 10.5 for my 04 with 203k on it that was totaled in march. I wasn't happy since it was in Florida and I couldn't go down to get my pc fj wheels new tires and 5th gen brakes. if you were to buy it back I'd be interested in some parts.

I have a 2013 Honda Fit Sport that is my main commuter car. City/Hwy ranges from 26-40 MPG depending on your driving style and wheels/tires. Very dependable and cheap to maintain. Only con is the lack of power (117hp), but can be fixed with a sprintex supercharger (+50hp).

I'm also interested in parts if you end up buying it back.

I'm going to agree with those who say "push for more." If nothing else, the first offer is always the lowball, so what would it hurt to seek a higher number?

I too had mine totalled out the other day. Some teens in town have a new game called "jump into traffic and make the driver slam on the brakes." I stopped, but the Santa Fe behind me didn't, and the Grand Prix behind the Santa Fe didn't, and I got plowed into. The rear crossmember is bent, and her insurance says "well, we're more than willing to replace the crossmember, but you have surface rust where we would weld it, and since you can't weld to rust, sorry about your bad luck.

I suggested they replace the frame, but he said no way.

Make sure they only use v8 4x4 as comps. Caught my insurance on that

My insurance tried the same bs with me. I had limited v8 4wd nav, leather, etc. and 80% of the "comparable" trucks were v6 sr5 cloth base models. When I said something about it they said "It's the same car" so I said "If that's the case I want to be reimbursed for the overpayment on insurance because you charge me more to insure a v8". Ended up on the third offer getting a much better check. If you never ask, the answer will always be no.

You may be successful on pushing for more but that was more than expected. My friend got really screwed. He had a very nice older sr5 with about 250k miles. Someone turned infront of him and it was a total loss. Your offer is very generous to what they received. Insurance company said due to miles is was not worth much.
