I just wanted to give a quick thank you shout out to the community on this forum. I sold my '12 4R last Monday to get a more capable tow vehicle. We picked up a 2018 Ford Expedition Max Platinum on Friday.

This place inspired me to learn out how to work on vehicles and took the apprehension out of it. I did my own airbags, suspension, seat covers, and sliders as well as built my own cargo drawer and added Cooper AT3s to really make this thing capable. It was a confidence boost that has kept me driven to learn more. I also learned how to tow safely and make the most out of the vehicle. Just wanted to give a special shoutout to [MENTION=68685]Ducmonsta[/MENTION] for loaning me the garage space and know how for the seat covers and sliders and [MENTION=65614]Antman[/MENTION] for the writeups. I still enjoy seeing a lot of these rigs on the road and the trail trip posts. Keep it going, it's what makes this place awesome. :thanks:

I'm pretty big into Ford and I don't think I even knew they were still making Expeditions lol. I don't think I've ever seen one since the 2014's or so. Thing looks like a luxury yacht!

Thanks for the kind words. The adaptive cruise control works quite well. The park assist is just a fascinating piece of tech. It'll back into perpendicular spaces itself or parallel park itself (which while gimmicky sounding is helpful when you're vehicle is 223" long). Our other vehicle is an '04 Expy so we're used to the size even with the longer wheelbase (which is 24" longer than a 4Runner). It just fits in the garage by about 3". The 360 camera system makes that a breeze.

I had an older Expedition and I loved it. That’s a nice looking rig, I hope it treats you well!

I had an Expedition as a rental last month on a business trip (obviously not a platinum edition). It actually felt pretty nice, with some upgrades (HID/LED) and a stable Android Auto platform it could be a nice highway cruiser. It did remind me how much I missed having 8 dwarves under the hood pounding away, and that width=stability. Should be a nice tow rig for you, best of luck!

I noticed yesterday the new Expedition really copies the 5th gen tail-light shape lol.
