What a great build! This is one of my first posts but I wanted to commend you for your online presence. It seems very genuine and authentic with some knowledge and humor thrown in.

We have a 2002 with 210k on the clock. Bought new and serviced at the same Toy Indie shop religiously over the last 18yrs. My lady drives it and I offered to get her something newer. She replied why don't we keep this 4runner going, I like it, but I wish it had some upgrades.

Your thread has inspired to get working on her rig. A lot of what you have done with the mini mods are a perfect starting point.

She is NOT going to go for manual hub though, no getting out in nasty weather to lock them in, :girl: LOL.

Thought ya'll might want to see my latest Blackstone oil report. I'm considering extended the oil change interval since 5k seems to be nothing for a full synth 5W-40 diesel oil.

I run T6 too. It would be great to be able to run 10k OCI's instead of the 5k I run now. Which filter do you use? I run the larger OEM filter, I think used on the V8's (90915-YZZD3).

I use the oversized Wix XP part# 51516XP filter. I actually just changed to Mobil 1 turbo diesel truck oil since I have a stash of it. Seems to be a very similar product to T6.

I just started doing this, but ef'd up in how I took a sample according to their directions (got a sample right during the start of draining the oil, rather than mid-way through). My only issue with extending the interval is that I don't drive the thing more than about 2.5-3k a year. My OCD has me changing the oil at least every 6 months.

Well it’s a diesel spec oil and not gas, so it follows the CK rating rather than SM, SN, etc. Functionally a diesel oil will have less focus on friction reduction (for efficiency) and more on anti-wear and high detergency to control for diesel combustion byproducts. The only downside if that if your engine burns oil it can poison your catalytic converter.

Only thing is, I've got zero film & editing skills so I wouldn't be much of a replacement but just looking out for extended t4r family instead. However...you guys may want to think about upgrading to Georgia too. With the housing prices in Cali, you could easily sell your homes & probably buy a nice drug dealer level house & still have enough left over dough to retire. Between the 4 of us we'd have plenty of 1st, 3rd & 5th gens to crank out some 4runner vids. Master plan?

Decided to swap out the window trim on the four doors with fresh OEM stuff. It just snaps out and back in but it does take some force. The rear passenger door fits a bit wonky but I think it was repaired many years back.

I also did the "AC on with defrost delete" mod. Unplugging this little guy makes it so that the AC doesn't automatically come on when the defrost mode is selected. On cold mornings it can be nice to have the hot air go through the defrost ports so it is more indirect -- but to not have the AC cycling at the same time.

Jordan, nice touch to freshen up the window molding. Do you have part #'s you could share?

Also, like your post about AC compressor delete when defrost is on. Where exactly is that wire connection located.

I replaced mine a year ago, and it really freshens up the look. But my rear ones keep sliding up out of position slightly, have you had a similar issue?

Oh, are you doing the rear window trim as well?
