Spindle gusset install, part 1!
Got me some spindle gussets from Heavy Friction via OPT Offroad

I spent a decent amount of time trimming, sanding, and bending to get them to line up perfectly. I also clearanced the top to prevent it from hitting the top strut mount.

Sacrificial bolts installed to protect the JBA adapters and the LBJ bolt holes. I also masked over the other mounting holes and seals.
We also had to bend out the center cheek to get it to follow the curve of the spindle. All fitted up and ready to tack on

Welding! Nice to have a blacksmith friend

We then added a 1/8" thick wrap around the top section. Tack, heat, bend, cut, weld in place.

Finished! We opted to do partial welds along the length on either side rather than full welds down both sides. The partial will be more than strong enough and minimize the amount of heat to potentially distort the spindles.

Looking to do the same on my manual hub/spindles...
Any concerns about overheating the bearings in addition to potentially warping the spindles?
Are you running these yet?
Only have about 1/8" clearance with the tire but it will be easy to trim some metal away if it turns out to be an issue.
:
Was it ever an issue?
Where did you trim from?I trimmed it to about 1/4" clearance and no, it hasn't been an issue.

I'm installing the same gussets so maybe I'll proactively shave them before welding them onShown in red

How are those rivnuts on the bug deflector holding up? I've had the same problem with mine being a little loose with just the plastic clips and it's bothered me for years.
Did you use a tool for installing them, or use the no tool method?
New OEM intake tubes! These were waaaay cheaper on Amayama than on any others online parts place. Got new clamps as well, feeling all factory fresh up in here.

Spindle gussets part 2
3) Brake hose relocation bracket. The gusset interfered with the mounting of the brake hose and shifting it over 3/4" with some 1/4" aluminum did the trick.
Woo! :cheer2:
Instead of relocation brackets what about Tacoma brake lines w/banjo fittings to eliminate the little, vulnerable hard line section and one less connection?

Since I still have ABS so I need to keep that half of the bracket in place but the clamp-on hose bracket on the Tundra SS line can probably be attached to the stock spindle brake boss.
Are you going to try those? Curious if they’ll bolt up to the stock spindle as well. I would love to get rid of the weird hard line on the caliper.Instead of relocation brackets what about Tacoma brake lines w/banjo fittings to eliminate the little, vulnerable hard line section and one less connection?

Which ones did you buy from them? Show your rust!I'm also curious to hear! Although my recently installed set of extended brake lines from Wheeler's are already rusted, so I'm a bit reluctant to buy more of these from them.

Here's another, non-extended/ stock option from Amazon :
I hesitate to clutter JZiggy's thread with my photos, but here you go - less than a year old, never in the rain, and less than 3K miles. I may try the Stoptech option...
