I have the same K&N also and love it, I could have found it a little cheaper on ebay, but I wanted a valid warranty so I got it at here. K&N 63-9029, or you can try one of the vendors on the forum here, you can usually find a good deal that way as well. This was very easy to install and I love it.

I think the low-end is much more responsive and I feel more power in the mid-range. It is loud on the highway and especially in the hills. I was in Santa Barbara and up through the mountains (and yes, the goddam fires) this past week and when it downshifts it is definitely noticeable. The wife complains but then I turn up the stereo so I can't hear her :biggrin2:

Loud at cruise or just loud under acceleration?

Louder during both but markedly more pronounced during acceleration. If your driving is mostly long-distance highway driving or daily through hills and want a quiet cabin I would advise against getting the 63 series. Otherwise I think you would like it!

63, 77, or Volant?

05 Sport Edition, v8 here. Can't decide on a CAI. Mostly highway driving and urban running. The K&N 63 series aircharger is more of an offroading intake, 77 series aircharger would be more of what I'm looking at I think. What about the Volant?

On the highway with my stock intake my scanguage says the air going past the sensor is 0-1 degrees above ambient temperature. In the city it maybe is 10 degrees hotter. It seems the 4Runner's intake is pretty good at getting cool air.

I guess the K&N might be less restrictive and sound different.

ive run k&n for years on other vec. with no problems, but if it were me, id stay with a dry filter for the t4r because of possible fouling of the MAF. not everybody has gotten this problem but to me its not worth the rough running , stalling out while driving, lower mpg, etc. when/if it happens. & yes, that can happen , its a little scarey. not to mention, having to clean the TB more often. , for mr. banks...- i bought the volant brand new, (wet filter) in less than a year, it fouled the MAF. so i went with the volant DRY filter, & it works great. by the way, the volant is not truly sealed off from the engine heat, (easily fixed tho) neither is the k&n, therefore its not as much of a cai as the stock box. id say either just mod the stock box, or get an AFE OR TRD intake, you could mod the volant tho. again, i like the k&n, i just think there are better choices for the t4r.
