K-trail trip, Feb 28th-29th?

Glad you guys are chilled out. We're totally cool and willing to work with ya'll.

I think 10 or less rigs is a great number. Right now we have 2 confirmed (duh) one maybe and as I mentioned, I have two jeep buddies who may go. Hence the need for the FB thing.

If we get more than 10 or 12 confirmed invites we'll probably make the FB thing private and remove the other invitees. I say 12 because you'll always have a handful of people who bail at the last minute.

So we're talking about getting to Clayton around noon, maybe earlier.

Is there a good place on the trail to set up camp before it gets dark? Our plan is to wake up Sunday and finish off the trail and head home.

Just wanted to add that it will likely take 6-8 hours to get to The Firetower from 9-pines/ Clayton. So, it probably wouldn't be the best idea to hit the trail at 12:00-1:00.

45 minutes of maintained county gravel roads. Fire tower is basically the end of the trail if you plan on bailing out at the 3 Sticks Monument.

From the Firetower to Three Sticks it will feel like you are flying too. All day at 5-7mph tops and then you hit the maintained gravel road and go 30mph it feels reckless.

Well, technically the trail goes all the way to Mena, AR. I think it's over 80 miles total. But most people just run from Clayton to 3 Sticks, which is about 40 miles.

A few people backed out, mostly due to weather. 4 of us made it. Kinda scary at first, being on the side of a snow and ice covered mountain, but we ended up having a blast!
