So as many of you have read a deer jumped out in front of me causing some damage to my front end(pic 1).the damage was non structural but I was having trouble locating the parts I needed! So at lunch on friday I responded to a craigslist ad and by lunch on sat I returned home with the 96 limited in pic 2. O.k. it gets better! the 3.4 has only 185,xxx miles and runs, the interior is clean, and best of all It only cost me 1500 BUCKS!! SWEEET!!!! I was stoked but then I looked at the dash and what!?!?!?! FACTORY E-LOCKING REAR END!!!!!! SCOOOORRREEEE!! Needless to say more pics a commin'.

Nice! So what's the plan with it. I assume swap over the stuff you want like bumper, headlights and rear axle. Would that include the other engine?

BTW. I'm still interested in one of those grilles. Assuming it wasn't damaged too badly.

man i am serisously thinking about putting back that bull bar i took off my 4R, the bar saved the PO with a deer incident, but the bull bar is bent slightly.
congrats on that find!

When I get the parts pulled I will see what is for sale mr. ripcord! I am not sure what I plan to keep since the truck is driveable. too bad it now has a salvage title otherwise I would be driving two 4runners! On another note can I put the locker in my 4runners rear housing or do I have to swap the whole axle?

You can put the locker into the rear housing, but it will be much easier to swap the whole axle.

Most likely the new 4runner and the old 4runner won't be the same gear ratio (most elocked 4runners are 4.30s and most unlocked 4runners are 4.10s). So then you would have to swap front diffs too.

I would swap the entire rear axle and the front diff, then you'll have the elocker and (most likely) 4.30 gears too.

Yeah, that's what I meant. :biggrin2:

Ok so I will have a little work ahead of me with the swap, now should I also swap the gauch cluster so my speedometer will be accuate??

Wait a minute here, you had an SR5 and smashed it and you then found a replacement that was the same color only a Limited model... E-Locker and for only $1500!? That is quite a deal, I would love to find a second Runner and just keep it for parts when something goes on the original - no having to look in junkyards or autoparts store, just go out back and pull the part you need.

I imagine you could also sell the 2nd Runner after picking it clean and pass it off as a Lmtd. Imagine the guy who buys only to discover he has SR5 gears and no locker:pimp:

Yea but that would be bad karma.
