My 2002 4Runner doesn't get driven much in the winter months and often sits outside, ungaraged, for weeks at a time. Twice now, I've had mice enter the air filter housing via the air intake in the passenger wheel well and destroy my air filter. The filter was practically brand new this last time it happened, and they chewed a 1"x2" hole in the thing.
I've also had the mice get into the blower motor on the passenger side under the glove box. I was able to remove it and clean out the nesting material with a shop vac, and all was fine.
I'm currently trying moth balls in the air filter housing to see if that will keep them out-- moth balls are in an open 1 gallon zip-lock freezer bag so I can easily remove them and seal before driving.
Any suggestions on how to keep mice out (beside the obvious-- park where there aren't mice and drive the thing more)?
