Kelly Safari TSR's

Well, I stopped in and got my Kelly Safari TSR's (made by Goodyear) on today and love them so far. They have nice treads and aren't loud at all! Really, with the radio at normal volume (I don't listen to it that high most of the time) you can't hear the tires. When you drive over concrete with the grantreks and you hear the tire whistle, that's about what it sounds like, only quieter.

According to the SoundMeter App for the Droid:
Dunlop Grantrek's:
64db at 50
70db at 65
74db at 70 and up

TSR's:
64db at 35-45
70db at 55
80db at 70 and up

It's nothing you hear over the radio. In fact my wife didn't notice a sound difference, and that's saying a lot! They're just about the same noise as the BFG AT's are... an $40/tire cheaper. Got mine from Tirebuyer. I got the 6 ply as the off-roading I do is in the back yard pulling the trailer out, so I got the 6-ply and the white letters. All the 10ply's have black walls. I haven't seen a drop in mileage so far, but I'll give an update on that when I drive on them for a while. They are only 44Lbs/tire according to FedEx labels. I still haven't seen a loss of MPG after a week of driving them and the handling isn't bad at all on the road. I'd recommend them for sure!

FYI: no rubbing in a 265/70 17 with the 2" spacer up front.

Looks sweet. I like the tread pattern on the Kelly's, and reviews show them being a nice tire all around. Good choice!

So far they're VERY resistant to hydroplane, handle good in dry weather, arent' loud, and look great. i have no complaints.

How are the new tires holding up???
I wish you had posted this a year ago! I never saw those when shopping around. Looks like they are lighter than my Mastercraft Courser AT's as well. And they are just the right balance between good manored tire and good enough tread for off road and mud. Now I just have to wear mine out so I can replace them w/ those! I would love to have a lighter tire w/ the possibility of better mpg, and a cool looking tire.

So how are your Kelly's holding up? I've been looking for new tires and was debating retreads due to the cost of new tires, but I found these tires on Treadepot.com and they are almost the same cost of the retreads I was thinking. I really wanted the Duratrac's but they are the brother to those tires.

Kelly Safari TSR's = $199 per tire
Goodyear Duratrac's = ~$250 per tire

= No brainer decision!

Here are my Kelly's. They do throw acorn sized stones that sound like a rifle shot when hitting the running boards. Looks like rock rails and "trucker" mud flaps for me. J/K My wheels were balanced with balancing powder, at first I was like:wow: but they roll smooth at highway speeds. I'm happy.

Sidewall flex on theses tires, these sidewalls feel thin.... I hope they last. But then again I have nothing to compare these too.

Wow those do look nice....didnt include them on my recent search...wonder what load range they are in 265/75 17 and 285/70 17......Seems so many tires are either P rated then jump to E range....Id prefer a C or D

Anyone wheeled these things? Rocks? Dirt roads? Mud?

Update: I have been searching the internet on these tires...get really good reviews from pickup truck forum guys.

Since they are one of the few ATs in 265/70 17 in C range, I think when it comes tire time I might give these a whirl....guys seem to like them a lot!
