Tires and Rims

Hey guys, it has been awhile since I have been on, just busy with work and life. Anyways, I’ve done a few things to my 08’ SR5, rebuilt the front suspension put a 3” lift and replaced the radio and front speakers so far, along with a few little odds and ends here and there.

Since everything I have done so far, I need to look at getting some tires and possibly rims as well. Looking something that is all terrain that can be used for daily driving and give a little extra height. I’m currently running stock size 265/65r17, been contemplating on 275/70 or 255/75.
Also been trying to decide on rims or just keep with what I got. But kinda lost when it comes to offset, since I’m more familiar with backspacing. Seems to be the same, but different, but wouldn’t know how much negative offset I would need? I have seen some with -4 all the way to -12. I would like the wheels to come out a bit but not too much. I don’t wanna use spacers for the wheels, but if I was going that route I would somewhere between 1” to 1”.25

For tires you really can't go wrong with any of the All Terrain offerings from the major brands (BFG, Toyo, Nitto, Cooper, Yokohama, etc). You'll get people trying to claim one tire is vastly superior over another, but I don't think that's true these days. If you live in an area that receives a lot of rain and/or snow then maybe pick a tire with more siping (Toyo ATIII, Falken AT3W, etc), but as long as it has the "3 Peak" rating you'll be fine.

For wheels I think anything in the 0 to -10 offset should bring out the wheels enough for you without being overly aggressive. Look through the "Lift and Tire" thread below and you'll find endless photos of different setups to get a better idea of what look you want.

Sweet, thanks Von. This gets me in the right direction. I’m mostly in an area that rains with occasional flooding, especially after long drought periods or heavy rainfall. Do any of the brands at a particular size such as 275/70 run smaller than others?

I’ll check out the lift and tire section again, I know I reviewed it many times, when I was lifting and looked a little bit at tires and rims but not that much into detail.

I'm not familiar with that exact size you're interested in, but I do know BFG's are known to run smaller than most other brands when comparing 2 tires in the same size.
