Anyone in the Lexington area have a set of balanced OEM wheels and tires I could borrow for an afternoon? I got the driveshaft in and the vibrations are not as bad, but still there. I am trying to rule out my wheels and/or tires being the culprit.
At least I know I'm not going to wreck driveline bearings and seals, so if anyone wants to go trail riding, I've got a working 4wd now.

I'm definitely wanting to give wheeling a try though! My rig's not stock, but all the work was done by PO. I have ideas planned but not the money to do so yet (isn't that the constant struggle?).
I believe I have the Old Man EMU lift, a Westin brush guard, and some A/T tires. Let me know if yall ever want to go wheel somewhere you think mine will hold up.

Great, I somehow graduated UK back in my 3rd Gen days and stuck around town. I *may* have driven through the Willy T bowl one night... Good times, bad decisions, go Cats.
I've only done a small part of the Daniel Boone Backcountry Byway (one hour east of Lex) but you could definitely handle the section I did, and most all the rest of it from what I hear. I think a stock 4runner could do most all of it as long as you don't do it alone. It's pretty great as long as you don't mind some Kentucky pinstripes, the trails are tight and overgrown a bit.
I've got recovery gear galore and the GPS trail map, all you need is gas! And maybe some K-lair takeout for lunch...mmmm.
Subscribe to this thread so you get emails w/ new posts and let's do a quick day trip some weekend this fall, hopefully we can get a little group but i'd go with just 2. I got sliders delivered yesterday, hoping to install them this weekend and will be anxious to beat them up very soon.

I'm STILL chasing vibrations at highway speeds but otherwise I'm down. I don't work most Fridays (four 10s) so that's the best day for me but I know that's not the norm for most people.
I've got a lot going on the next couple months but I should be free the weekend of Oct 6-8 if y'all want to try to do some trail riding.

Driving in the bowl? huh sounds like some hypothetical fun that I might want to hypothetically try sometime haha however K-Lair food has gone down hill (even from when I lived on campus), wouldn't want to ruin your memory of it
I'm all in for a group ride whenever. I definitely don't want to go by myself for my first time trail riding.

Lex folks we could meet somewhere in town first and caravan, but it's a straight shot down 64 & mountain pkwy.

Assuming I can get this vibration figured out, I'm in. Right now I'm limited to 45-50mph.

You replaced driveshaft right? It's been a while but I think I remember having to replace u-joins on my 3rd gen after about 300k. It was taken care of by dealer for most of those miles, meaning zerks probably never saw grease 'til I got it.

New rear driveshaft, new CV axles, corrected rear pinion angle, tried taking the diff drop out (in case it was the front driveshaft), tried taking wheel spacers off, tires balanced twice (in the shop for a third time today).
I'm to the point that I'm starting to forget all the crap I've tried.

I'll have to see if I can go or not. UK plays Mizzou at home and its parents weekend. If my family doesn't come up, I'm all in. If they do, I'll have to catch you guys another time :juggle:

I mean trust me, I'd be all over some good ole fashion rolling of the dice if this is catfishing or not, but things are the way they are.
I know this is really far off, but I'd be all over going the weekend 11/10 or 11/11

I feel like a dick now but it turns out I have a wedding that day at 6 in Louisville. So I could go if we went early, I'd have to leave the trails by around 2pm.
I need an assistant.
