I'm new to the forums and have a new to me 2007 4Runner SR5 4X4, just picked it up a couple of weeks ago. It has the non JBL audio setup and one of the first things I am doing is installing a Kenwood DNX-6960 and Sirius, rear view camera, etc.
I have looked through a bunch of the install threads and couldn't figure out a definitive answer to a couple of questions I had so I was hoping someone could help me out before I get started on doing the install. First, do you need a Metra type kit for the head unit at all? I ordered the sport trim piece and will use that. Can I just take the brackets off the factory head unit and use those and then the sport trim ring will not leave any gaps, or do I need a Metra kit for the trim rings, etc?
Also, if I wire the rear view camera to a switched hot can I view the rear camera while in motion by hitting the video button on the Kenwood units? Anyone with one of these Kenwood units know whether you can switch to the back camera, or what needs to be done to be able to?
