Key copies for chip keys

Does atone know of a place that will make a dang copy of a key with a chip for a normal amount?

I could really give a rats *** about the security features not working with a normal key. I just don't want to spend $100 for a new key.

You can always just get a mechanical key cut. It's just a plain old steel key no chip. Then you hold your chipped key next to the ignition while turning with the new mechanical key. And those keys are cheap 5bucks or so.

I tell people to hide a mechanical key if they are going to use a key to hide make it a non chipped key. So if anyone finds it then all they can do is unlock your truck, big woopdy doo!! It beats breaking a window!

Or buy a key off eBay, some have found the keys cheap and then just paid for programming.

Also if you or someone you know has AAA just call them up and say you lost your key. They will send a locksmith out to make a new key for you and program it as well, if your a basic memebers they cover $50 if your a prime or premium member they will cover $100. That's truly the best wY to go.....gotta love AAA!!

The only problem is that anywhere you go to have a key made, they have this machine that you have to pass your key through. If it has a chip, it will make a sound. Then the store will refuse to make a copy of the key :uzi:

What????
I've never heard of that before!

Did you ask why that is?

That's just crazy, get AaA then be done with it, call them up and tell them you lost your keys

You can probably order a bunch of un-cut cheapo chipped keys online and/or go to the mall and have them just clone the key's RFID.

I will note that if you do go with the latter that you have at least 2 separate keys with 2 different RFIDs because if for whatever reason your ECM needs to be replaced and/or the immobilizer needs to be re-programmed you cannot do it with just 1 Master Key, you need 2 Different Master Key IDs otherwise you need to reseed the system which means only a Dealership can do the work.
