the ignition cylinder/key cylinder in my car has started to rattle non stop. has anyone raninto this problem? is there a cheap/easy fix to it other that replacing the entire thing?
Its fairly common for the cylinder to wear out. Lots of people carry multiple keys with them that just jiggle around and wear out the cylinder constantly. After so many years it just wears out.
You could try a quick disconnect on your truck key so that is the only key's weight in the cylinder while driving. Something like this:
You could probably rebuilt the lock and install new wafers with the same key code. The wafers would be cheap but you would need to know the key biting.
Lastly, you would most likely have to buy a new cylinder.
