Key fob programing

So I bought a key fob for my 2000 limited, didn't have one when I bought it. I'm following these instructions...... 2000 Toyota 4Runner Keyless Remote Key Fob..... But dang if i can't get the truck to go into program mode. any tricks, tips, etc from anyone who's done this?

I purchased on for my 04 and it worked first time!

Search tool is your best friend... I just did one the other day on my '02 following these instructions:

Be sure to do it to all fobs, including your original and all spares. If it doesn't work the first time, do it again and again and be specific on each step... it may take a few tries. I programmed my spare on the first try but took like five times to program my original. Also, be sure all fob batteries are good. Good luck.

Lol, yea man, tried those instructions about 20 times, my buddy tried too. Anything in the truck itself that would "lock out" the programing mode? I just added a new key too, and it worked first time.

-Got it figured out, cleared it by doing a "5turn" with the ignition...
-And manually worked the driver door lock up and down as I cycled the power locks, the actuators are weak.
