Key Fob Shell Needed

Hey guys, need some help finding a key fob shell for my wireless remote. Local stealership doesn't have it. Looked all over eBay, but all I can find are key fobs with programming. My transmitter works fine, just the plastic hole broke; thus I cannot keep it with my keys! Any help would be great. If interested in selling, PM me. Send links if found too. Any help would be great! If you know how to use ePoxy, you can fix it.

I bought mine from ebay when I lost mine, I think I paid around $25. I had the Dealer prograam it, because I needed a key made & programmed since I lost that too.
 
I don't know what they are called, but our dealership offers a third party product that is essentially a rubber covering for your keyfob to protect it and also restory the key hole if it breaks off. Not sure what to search for but hopefully that helps...

They have got the worse web page for trying to find stuff I have seen in a while. For those of you who are looking for one of these (and don't want to super glue a washer to the remote where the keys connect - which has lasted longer than the JB Weld I tried first) here is a link direct to the 4th Gen style remotes.

I would note that they do not appear to have a cut out for the panic button in case that matters to you.

Also for the OP, I just ask at the dealership recently and they told me that Toyota doesn't sell just the remote housing.
 
hey, i only did a quick search to show they can be had , & try to help a brother out, of course theres more places available to buy em, one just has to take the time to search for em. sorry i couldn't please everyone, next time i'll try to devote more than a quick minute!

Chaz that was no ding on you. I was taking a shot at the web site that the manufacturer linked to for sales not your link. They were easy to find on the manufacturer site. Probably could have been more clear in my comments.

I'd never seen plastic replacements before (didn't like the rubber covers) and believe me I looked. If you look in the 3rd gen forum you'll see where I transplanted the guts of my 3rd gen remotes into completely new housings because I couldn't find this type of thing. So I appreciated the original link.

Anyway, I just checked the company selling these out (when you click the buy now button on the manufacturer page). In addition to their NewTruckStuff website, they're on eBay with decent feedback as well but not selling the fobs. I just ordered two of them - so thanks for putting up the link. :peace:)
 
Thanks guys! Just ordered one from New Truck Stuff! That's why I love this forum. Went with the simple black. Will let you guys know how it goes!
 
Got mine in today. They are not exact swap but close enough if you're willing to mod them a bit. As I mentioned earlier, no panic button.

There is a raised ridge on the inside of the fob that needs to be trimmed to accommodate the piece of plastic that connects all the buttons. I also had to ream out the lock and unlock button holes a tiny bit to get them to not stick. If you look at the final photo, you can see where I did it too much especially around the lock button. Based on the photo, you may just need to do the top and bottom of the button a bit. Looking at the fob, you can't seen the error but they showed up on the photo when I zoomed in.

Overall not too bad and better than my super glued washer. I got blue and silver 'carbon fiber' ones. The blue looks OK but I really don't like the silver. BTW, the cheesy label on the silver one peeled off without complaint.

Here are some photos.

edit: Just did the silver one. I didn't have to ream out the button holes on this one but still had to flatten the insides. The other thing I discovered is that they go together much better (and it doesn't seem to affect the buttons as much which is why I was reaming the holes) if you put the electronics into the back housing and then the rubber cover so that it seals the electronics into the back. Then snap this onto the face where the buttons have already been installed.

I was cruising down the aisle in Advance Auto Parts the other day and they had a shelf full of them for various vehicle types. Not sure if they had one for the 4Runner or not though.
