Key Question

Hi i have a 1998 4runner sr5
my current key looks like this

my question is i was wondering if i can buy this key and cut it and make a copy. or are the blades different?

nope different length, shape, and form. about the only thing you can do do is get a key with the rubber handle/grip/top

You can use either key, however the black key has a rfid chip...

yes that is pretty much your only option

You can use the soft chub key w/o programming the rfid.

My non-chip '99 SR5 came with two master keys and a valet. One master had the metal head like the one in the first picture and one had a black, not gray, soft head. So I am not convinced that all black soft-heads had chips.

I can't be positive because Jr. lost the soft-head in the parking lot of Six Flags around 2001. Grrrrr......
