That's a customizable setting (known as a C-BEST setting), but unfortunately a dealer has to do it for you using their OBD scan tool. There are a lot of settings that a dealer can change. There's a PDF file in post 5 of this thread.
Most dealers will now charge you for their time if you go and ask to have something changed, possibly as much as a full hour of labor! However, some are cool about it and will do it for free if you're having other service work done at the same time.

Is the piezo device in the driver-side fender still there?
I took mine out a year after I bought the 4Runner. Its a little beep device hooked into a harness inside the fender.
