Keyless entry? 2000 4Runner SR5

Hi,

I'm in Canada and just bought a used 2000 4Runner SR5 4WD. It has Power windows, power locks, power mirrors and leather. I'm trying to figure out if it has keyless.... A friend gave me a remote to try. (it has the rear window button) When I get in to program mode and hit the two button on the remote, my truck recognizes it but after I leave the programming mode, the remote doesn't work???? Do you think it's a funky remote or that my truck doesn't have keyless?

I'm in the same situation. I too have a 2000 4Runner SR5 sport. Does anyone know if the 2000 SR5 came with keyless standard? If not, do they come with everything hardwired and all I need is the key fob (Programmed correctly of course)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem with my 2000 SR5, I bought one off ebay for like 30 $ and I programed it. Its easy and fast.
