Keyless entry problem

Alright so I have tried everything and have ran out of ideas on this keyless entry for my 00' Limited. It all began by the range getting shorter and shorter and it would intermittently not unlock the doors unless I pressed the unlock button multiple times rapidly. Then it just stopped working.
So I searched the forums for answers and many threads pointed me towards the rear hatch door wiring. I pulled back the rubber boot and found three wires split. Made a repair and thought I would be good to go. Nope. Still nothing. I changed batteries twice with no result as well but that stupid IR tester receiver at autozone states the remote is still sending a signal. So I thought it might just need to be initialized again. So I downloaded the instructions and found my next problem. My door lock actuators are lazy as hell so when I need to lock/unlock five times my locks get tired and stop moving. Short of replacing every singe lock actuator, I am out of ideas. Anyone have any success stories for getting their keyless to operate again?

I have to smack the remote sometimes and then it works. It's hit and miss. Found out it has a remote starter one day when I was battling the remote.

I have a similar problem with my remote but haven't found a cure but.....I bought my truck and it didn't come with a remote, so I bought one on line and tried to program it and ran into the same problem with the actuators not having enough juice to lock/unlock for the required number of times--CHEAT the system by manually helping the lock on the drivers side in rhythm with the program method. Worked for me while programing the remote but I still need to hit the button multiple times to unlock the doors--(I'll research the rear hatch connections)--the funny thing is the locking function will work from inside the house, even when it is pressed unintentionally from inside my pocket. Hmmmm

I had a very similar issue, and it ended up being the actuators. I bought them used for about 40 bucks each off a salvaged truck, and replaced them myself in a couple afternoons.

If your door switches don't make the door actuators work any better than the remote does, it's 99% sure to be the actuators. You can test the output from the electrical system to the actuators, and that would tell you positively.

Sorry to bring this old post back, but did you ever end up getting it to work? I'm having a similar problem, except mine never came with a remote, and I just picked up one. When I try to do the 5 lock sequence they get super weak, and won't even move. I tried helping the drivers lock manually while pressing the button, but maybe I'm not doing it good enough? I'm not getting the three clicks after.

I was thinking about going with replacing the drivers, and passenger actuator like said above, because I'm sure it would do the same even if I had a remote ..

I had to help mine by hand as they had gotten weak. Had no problem programming my remote.
