keyless entry remotes

Before I spend 30-40 on Ebay, does anyone know if a 2001 4runner remote can be added to the 2008 upgraded security system? I've also seen programming instructions on the forum, but I believe (though I could be wrong) they were for a 2005. Are the instructions the same?

If FCC # matches it should work. I found several sets of instructions online and they worked fine on my 03 with VIP 3200 OEM system (if you can rub your stomach and patyour head 30 times within 40 seconds).
