Keyless entry - touchpad available?

One thing I really liked about my Ford Explorer was the touchpad on the driver's door for keyless entry - great to leave the keys locked in the car while out for a surf.

Is there an aftermarket product available for the T4R that offers something similar?

I'd love to have a programmable wireless touchpad that just sends the lock/unlock signal when you punch the private code in.

That technology is going by the wayside now that you have key fobs that never have to leave your pocket even to start the truck and that would be the way to go instead of the key pads since there is a reason those were abandoned.

Would you keep the fob in your pocket in salt water? I wouldn't.
 
Basically what the original thread came down to. It's not a matter of the technology that you can carry on you, but being able to leave it behind. Say you hit the beach, park your car on the sand or by the boardwalk and wanna jump in the water without taking anything with you. Leave everything behind (ie wallet and keys) in the glove box, lock up, swim, come back, dial in keypad... you're in!
 
Yeah, I'd do this.

I go running out on trails around a lake. I hate having to carry my keys with me. I usually stuff the spare key into my clothing, or carry it in my hand, but lately I shove it down inside the cell phone case alongside the cell. But say if I was to trip and fall down a hill or something, and loose it...I'd be SOL and have to make a phone call. Assuming I could find the cell after rolling down the hill. I could do the cheap $2 magnetic box hidden on the car, but I'd be paranoid someone would find it and steal my car. And I'm not the fanny pack type, but that would probably be the safest fix. For sure when I take up kayaking, a floating waterproof bag will have to be added!
 
I thought about this, too, when I'm up skiing, hiking, etc. and don't want to carry my keys with me. Then I thought of those keylock boxes the realtors use for house keys. I think that would be perfect to put the keys/wallet in and lock up to the hitch.

This would be the cheapest solution.
 
I think I'll go with a "lock box" type of thing.

To bad, though - this feature of my Explorer was one I used every day...especially nice to go to the beach and leave the keys locked in the car, really handy and worry-free.

The after market versions just don't look like great options.

I like the hitch safe. The one I posted I have for my house, but the hicth safe makes alot of sense for vehicles.

I use these for work.. as I am a realtor.. the only thing you will be able to fit is keys and some cash.. no wallet or anything like that.. they are small on the inside...

since my incident at the gym I was looking into the keypad thing as well...
 
Instead of keypad (which are so old school, I sure wouldn't want something like that on the side of my door).

They need to come out with somesort of fingerprint scanner.

Reminds me of KITT from Knight Rider, where you just put your hand on the door handle and it read your prints and opened the door.

Now that would be cool :)

Okay idea, but I could see the costs being pretty high and the reliability being an issue.
 
I have keyless entry got it from ebay for I think $60. it took some nerve because you have to drill large holes in the door but in the end it was worth it it works great you can find it on keyless.com i have the ke-1604

if you guys ever wanted a remote start , alarm combo, I suggest doing the whole thing at the same time, you can also have the keypad add-on.
look into the compustar systems.
lots of features and add-ons, range is really good depending on remote, but they work as advertise, i have used the 3000ft 2 way remotes, and now im on the 3 mile range, my personal one have the drone mobile setup. you can do everyone on the phone or the web.
