Keyless Entry

Hello all, great site. I bought my 1999 4Runner limited 2WD back in Feb 2010, and the Key Less Remotes did not work, and after reading some of the posts with similar problems I decided to replace my Junction Box (aka Body Ecu), and after I replaced I proceeded to try and reprogram my remotes as they still did not work after I replaced the Box, and when I try to cycle the Lock/Unlock switch on my drivers side door, the cycle stops after about 2 or 3 times and will not go the entire 5 times, and if I wait about 30 seconds the switch will work again but still not let me go past 2 or 3 tries at the lock/unlock cycle, so needless to say I still am unable to program my remotes. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

If I am understanding the issue correctly it could be an issue with a weak door lock actuator... Same thing happened to me. I just gave my lock a little manual assistance at the same time (pull the lock up when you press unlock and push down when you press lock) and it allowed ke to program it. Hope that helps

Thanks, that makes sense, is it very hard to replace the actuator? so you replaced your junction Box as well, or did you just have to reprogram the Remotes?

I found that my actuator works fine for locking the car when I get out or unlocking when I get in so I haven't bothered to replace it. It just seems like it gets tired when I press lock/unlock 15 times in a row. I didn't do anything with my junction box or anything else - just programmed the remotes because I got the car with no remotes.

Cool Thanks. So you were able to program your remotes by manually locking and unlocking the door with out using the switch to program your remotes? that would be great to not have to buy an actuator as I just spent $208.00 for the Junction Box delivered. I am not sure if it needed to be replaced in the first place, but when I bought the $runner the Two remotes did not and still do not work. I will try and do the manual thing tonight, thanks again.

Hey, I tried the manual method to program my remotes and it worked, thanks for the suggestion, I appreciate it very much.
