keyless question

my 2000 4runner did not come with a keyfob. I had a friend run my VIN and he said I do not have wireless entry on my truck. However when I complete the instructions found on this site to put the truck into programming mode, my locks cycle twice. This tells me that the ecm is ready to accept the new remote.

Am I correct?

Does your truck have the security light on the dash? It would be to the left of the steering wheel around the dimmer switch.

I'd go get a fob and program it, then park the truck in the hot sun and shove your freind in there and lock the doors and everytime he tried unlock them to get out I'd lock them back with your new fob

You likely do have this feature on your Runner.

What is it a SR5,or Limited, or, Base.

It was optional on the Base model and standard on the SR5 and Limited.

my truck is an sr5 with the highlander/sport package. it also has the illuminated pass. sun visor which looks like part of the power package that includes keyless. does everyone with a 2000 sport with keyless have the lighted sunvisor mirror?

Sorry about the shoving your freind in there thing, I just got off work and it was a ruff night.

the SR5 should have power locks though, go get a fob and try it,sounds like you already figured out how to program it.

Well, I programmed an ebay Keyfob and it worked perfectly. However, my interior lights do not illuminate when I unlock the doors with the keyfob?

My Tundra does illuminate upon keyless unlocking.

Is this common with all 4runners?
