Since the OP never said what year his neighbors 4Runner is I just wanted to add that a dealer cut key on a 2001 or earlier without a chip is actually pretty cheap. I think its $20 at the most.
Hello. This comment might be a little bit late but, did you try to find a way of opening it using other keys on hand? Or better save a locksmith number on your phone. Just in case it happens again in the future, you don't have to do crazy things to get it fixed on your own. The same thing happened to me yesterday, it was raining really hard and I got locked out. Might have dropped my keys inside the car while I was taking my bag. My window was open for a wee bit and I tried pulling it down but I ended up leaving noticeable scratches on it. Thank god a passerby helped me and called a local locksmith and they opened it really fast.

Hey, your comment is very timely. The OP was sitting by her car for close to 12 years now waiting for you to respond. She was getting quite hungry and was really ready to use a bathroom.
I thought bots were smarter than that....
For what it costs to call a lock smith you might as well just break a window these days. It's a bit messier but you are done in about 1 min.

Sorry but I disagree, the word I highlighted in red is what's going to not make this option less expensive, the install labor for that little piece of glass will be as much if not more than what a locksmith would charge you to come and unlock the vehicle, IMHO.
Could absolutely be it depends on the cost.
Have you seen them get the keys out of a car? They stick a balloon inside the window frame, then inflate. Once they have sufficient gap, they stick a hook in there and unlock the door manually. I would probably opt for the broken window over a ever so slightly bent door that could squeak or rattle.

Yes I have indeed seen how it's done, as a matter of fact I have the tools to do it with and have been doing it for family, friends and anyone I happen to come across for more than 30+ years for free, if done correctly the amount of flex to the door to get the rod in there will not deform the door, never ever had any fitment issues after unlocking a door nor have I ever heard of any.
