Hi all
I just bought a 1989 4unner.

Did they originally come with separate ignition and door keys? Where the ignition key would only work in the ignition and door key only in the doors?

Thanks.

I had the same problem with my 89. Guy gave me a key that he said only worked in the ignition. I went to my local Toy dealer and they were able to cut me an original key from my vin number. There is also a key code under the passenger door panel. There is only one key for everything.

Thanks.
W/O going into a lot of details, I had the dealer cut a key but it only worked on the doors and not the ignition Maybe the PO had a new ignition installed.

Yes, one key should open all.

Zammy, how much did the dealer charge for a new key? My '89 needs new keys and I'd like the OEM look. A couple of years ago they wanted $45.00 to make a key for my 2000 4Runner. I went to an Ace Hardware and they made an aftermarket key for less than $5.00. Home Depot didn't have the blanks and they told me to go to Ace!
