Kidde Fire Extinguisher Recall

Same here. I had 4 total, all but my heavy duty garage one, by a diff brand.

I have the same one you do in the 4runner.

Just got my replacement in today - full metal handle that is much nicer than the one I sent back. I had my 4Runner extinguisher as well as another one in the kitchen affected that were quite old and probably should have been replaced anyhow.

Kidde is a poor quality brand when it comes portable extinguishers. If you'd like evidence of that and more information on extinguishers, I've done my best to provide some information in this thread:

Slightly off topic but Kidde also has a current smoke detector recall as well. Had all 4 in my house replaced free of charge.

While I’m sure there are differences I have about 10 and the one time I’ve needed it I pulled the pin, sprayed the base of the fire and it was extinguished.

So, maybe not so junky and a wastey of money for me.

Not sure if you mean 10 Kidde extinguisher or 10 in general. Regardless, I'm glad it worked when you needed it.

My goal with the information is to help people see that there are significant differences in quality and that when trying to save money, life safety equipment is not a place to save a few bucks.

I honestly appreciate any and all information especially by those in the industry who actually know what they are talking about. But maybe ease up a bit on the hyperbole to make your point.
