nice wheelin picks kid, that thing looks mean
I would think bad HG would pressurize the cooling system and cause coolant to well over even before reaching operating temp when coolant is not expanding much or boiling over from overheat, yet....but the coolant started welling up as I got to temp and now I'm blowing a fair amount of white smoke out the tailpipe on a cold start...
Wouldn't a compression or a bleed down test help with your suspicions?
It would, if I knew that the rings and valves were good. With that crud in cylinder three I'm guessing that this motor is not as new as I thought it was and the rings are going, which will skew the compression test results.
I made a decision last night, I'm tired of chasing trouble with this particular motor and I'm going to run it into the ground. I've got some other projects that need doing that I've been neglecting, so I'm going to work on those and wait for this one to die. That'll give me time to decide if I'm going to build a b!tchin' 22RE to replace it or just get the 3RZ swap over with already. :bravo:
Hey Kid, question on your rear bumper.... is that a home made fab job or did you order that from somewhere? I'm really liking the simplicity of it and want to ditch the factory chrome job mines still sporting.
it may take longer than you think. these engines are hard to kill. they just wont STOP running.
I dunno, my last 22RE stopped running just fine. Skip to post 41 or thereabouts for the carnage.
but, did it still run?
pull the offending rod out, and I bet it would.![]()
It's a one-off, made by one of the guys at CBI OffRoad Fab for his own truck before he sold it to me. It's been a great bumper, nice and sleek and it's held up to abuse well.
I can get you some better pics if you want, or you could contact CBI - I don't think this design ever made retail production, but I'm sure they'd be happy to make you one just like it. They're a great company to do business with.
3rz time?!?!
