Is extended travel a different price?

Also, does anyone know if it is still true that you have to remove the coilover to adjust height? 2014 posts I've read say that this is the case. Sounds like a PITA.

Extended travel is free, but you need to specify that when you place your order. You'll need a key to get a spanner wrench to adjust them with the springs on.

I'm not 100% on the fifth gens but I know on multiple 3rd gens that I've done the issue isn't that you couldn't adjust it on the truck. It's just stuff gets in the way. My UCAs are in the way of where the spanner wrench goes. Also King uses a single collar with a set screw. Depending on the height you go with and the orientation of the collar the set screw may face the frame.

But as far as PITA goes. You can pull the coilover in 5 minutes once you've done it enough times. Plus I find it easier to measure the height of the coilover off the truck. May just be me though


Just an FYI my build sheet got to King on 9/1 and I got a three week quote.

Micah wasn't sure if they offer it, but said he's pretty sure he can order it with the spacer removed to make it extended travel. King confirmed they can do it either way. They both said if you have new ucas, go extended travel, if you don't have them, do not get extended travel. If you plan on getting ucas down the road, you can have the spacers removed as well during a rebuild.

Was looking for the thread in the 5th gen section that had info on this group buy, just had some information to contribute from a rep at King. Figured I might as well add it here for people who plug in "King Shocks" in the search queue.

The OEM package was.."Our shock kit is designed around the factory upper control arm." just to clarify for those who may not want to replace UCA. How ever it will work fine with aftermarket UCA as well, per the rep. Just wanted to throw this out there, even though the group buy is over.

yeah i didn't expect them any where near that fast. I ordered sway a way rear springs thursday from them as well, so i thought the tracking number was for that, but then i noticed it was two boxes, and i had 3 tracking numbers!

That's because they haven't ship yet. King had a few of these ready to go on the shelf, and those were shipped. The rest still fall into the 2-3 week to build category.
 
Order just showed up yesterday. Not complaining at all, just was surprised since i had no idea they were shipped. Super excited!!!

I'm sure I'll be doing this again. Most likely only a once a year kind of thing since King is pretty picky.

No, not yet! Wait until later this year, when I have money put aside...

As it currently stands when I build out what I want (2003 - 2009 Toyota 4Runner and FJ Cruiser King Shocks OEM Upgrade Kit - $1,424.95 w/ Free Shipping!) it tells me I need to spend $3,300...

Side note, this guys video on King stuff is amazing. (It's on that page, lower down-worth the 1.5 hours to watch it through).

Also, on a tangential topic, despite everyone talking about how great Icon's digressive valving is, I haven't seen anyone else recommend it or say they're using it, as of course you could valve any shock progressive or digressive or the like.
