King shocks update!

Ok well king installed front and rear shocks today and I must say what an incredible difference! I haven't installed the front UCAS or the rear icon springs. Here is why king wants to borrow my truck again! They want to install a different hose fitting at the coilover and different mounts for the resis. They feel the 14's have changed a bit. I will update more when king finishes....

What is different from the 10+ FJ shocks? Resi hose lengths/mounts? Are they still using the small 2.0 resi on the 2.5's? spring rates? Valving?

They want to bring the resi closer to the coilover and retract the hose crimp at the top of coilover so it doesn't come close to hitting the factory uca.

Spring rate and valving stays the same. Not sure about the resi thing...

UCAs from 2003 to current 4Runner are the same, as well as 05+ Taco and FJC forever. If you are running Kings, you should have aftermarket UCAs, not just for clearance, but to get caster adjustment back to spec.

Oh ya! I agree, here is my set up pre install:

I leveled mine on kings with stock UCAs (temporarily of course) and it was well within spec on the alignment. I'm trying to keep it low for parking garages so my angles are pretty minimal though. I'm sure it would be an issue quickly the higher I went.

I agree they need to do something with the resi line at the coilover... It is darn close to the UCAs just due to the angle it comes off the shock body's nd there really isn't a reason for it.

I was wondering about the smaller 2.0 resi up front... Depending on where they relocate it they could potentially go bigger, however on the current setup the reservoir barely fits in the hole on the passenger side and I do mean barely. As it is I can't get to the adjusters or nitrogen fill without moving the reservoir in the mount.
 
Mine look just like yours pictured, but see how the front reservoir is smaller than the rears? That's why I was wondering. My buddies 2.0s have the smaller reservoir like both our fronts. It seems to me that more fluid and more surface area on the reservoir would keep the improve performance, and since we have a larger front weight bias (52%) you would want these at least equal to the rears. So why are the rears bigger? WHY I ASKI?!??!!!

Good point, i didn't really think about the rears. the rears are longer but are a 2.0" while the fronts are shorter and a 2.5". while I'm not positive, i would assume they are pretty much the same in area.

well seeing how both are rebuildable, i would say they are about the same. both use very high quality materials.

I found this to be a little interesting, not icon but still interesting. I think the longevity issue is more due to how you drive them than quality of build. The thing that wears out are the seals... Which are cheap.
