Hi all. I just got into a 4Runner and coming from a MazdaSpeed 3 it's been a big change. I love everything about it.

Looks pretty good. Are those 31" or 32" tires? Are you running wheel spacers? Those rear wheels look like they are sticking out pretty far.

You can flame me...I hate that everyone starts their own threads. Before you know it we will have 150 owner threads all lost somewhere down the list. This is why we have dedicated sticky threads. Also, it creates more work for the moderators when hey need to moderate or delete. Ya, I'm a hater!!!

I like knowing I can go find a thread (like Harper's for example) and see what they have done to their vehicle. To me it is far more useful than scanning 65 pages of the owner's pic thread.

good point...but...Harper's rig is special though, he's done some interesting and unique modifications, a lot of them too.

Well I finally got the correct instructions and was also able to talk with Kodiak and send some pictures to confirm the correct install. Despite the problems getting the instructions they were very helpful over the phone and pleasant to deal with.

First you remove the original battery and tray. The stock tray is a plastic piece that sits under the battery. It's not even attached.

Next, in with the new battery tray. The supply the hard ware to install the tray, all you have to do is drill three 1/2" hole to mount the tray.

Then in go the batteries. The hold downs are really nice. The point of have the different battery terminals is that you can hook up the stock wiring without cutting or rerouting.

On goes the solinoid and the cables. They cables are very solild. The connectors are crimped, soldered, and heat shrinked into place. The solinoid mounts directly to one of the hold downs via some thread holes in it. Very clean setup.

The last step is to run the switch through the fire wall and tidy up the install. I still have to attached the military battery terminals that came with the kit and finalize the wires routing. I'll post final pictures of it and the switch install when I finish this weekend.

I attached the new battery terminals. Not sure why I didn't do it right the first time.

Here is where I put the switch. It was a lot easier than I thought to route the wires into the center console.

I gotta say that I like this kit. You could make your own for less money but it wouldn't be this clean.

Here is a quick video of the switch in action. Middle, no light, charges the main battery with no involvement of the auxiliary battery. To the left, green light, charges both batteries but auxillary remains isolated durning ignition and when the vehicle is off. To the left, red light, both batteries are engaged. This would be the one to use if you kill the main, or your need an extra punch for whatever, then you simple switch it back to the left, green light, until they are both charged up again. And no, that's not my purse.

In reference to your original post I just came from a Mazdaspeed 6, though my wife still drives our Mazdaspeed 3 Its a change alright, loved the 6 but needed more room.
