So I bought some rear leather seats

So I'm still in college station for school until next week. But I was browsing craigslist for some deals and i came across the best one I've ever seen. This guy was selling the rear leather seats from 1997 4Runner limited. He wanted $60 bucks for them and honestly I would paid that straight up. But I started talking to the guy and he was into 4Runners too and so basically the negotiating was "so I know you wanted $60 for them, but will you take $40?" "tell you what, you're a 4runner enthusiast too, sure why not". haha $40 bucks for the rear set of leather seats!! here are the pics

Overall I would say that they are in pretty good condition and i got a hell of a deal.

Came back home for thanksgiving break and so i got to work on the 4runner again. I was able to install the rear leather seats that i bought. Although it was tougher than i thought. The seats are from a 97 and i have a 2002. So the 97 didnt have rear child seat latch in the back of the seat back. and the bottoms dont have the head rest holders. in addition to that, the seat backs wouldnt even bolt up right because of a different pattern. So i had to take apart my seat backs and put the leather seat cover onto my 2002 seat frame so i could keep everything working right. I still need to figure out how to get my headrest holders in. I may have to take apart the seat bottoms and swap the covers on those.

I'd say thats 40$ well spent.

Leather Seat Install and "OEM" looking backup camera install

Back from my 1st semester of college. Damn that was hard lol. and well I got some work done on my truck. Just random stuff. I bought some white dice valve stem caps because i thought they were cool haha. and i installed a new backup camera that appears to blend in pretty well. Yes I know I'm missing a license plate bolt. I'm going to get that soon.

haha yea it was! and will do. I was thinking of trying to get some new wheels and tires in the summer time probably the wheels offroad type B's and some 265/75r16 BF Goodrich All Terrains. and if you are still interested in them at that time ill shoot you a PM.
 
New tires, Hella Supertones, woodgrain trim & Dad bought a Tundra

Well it's been awhile since I've posted anything so I have a bunch of updates
-installed the fog lights and covered them in yellow vinyl (will redo using proper spray tint soon)
-installed my 6" driving/fog lights but they aren't working right so i need to check my wiring and check the bulbs
-installed my Hella Supertone's

I am really loving the white letters out look :D
and since spring break is in about a week and a half I have started a to do list
TO DO

-Reinstall HID's and aim the headlights lower. I miss the look of my HID's with the yellow fogs
-Remove plasti dip and Paint rims gloss black
-Remove plastidip on front chrome, sand the chrome/plastic and Paint front bumper satin black
-scuff up rear bumper and repaint satin black
-lol get an alignment because of new tires and get the wheels balanced with the weights on the inside after I paint them
-repaint rear plastic bumper piece with plastic trim paint
-install new wood shifter trim piece
-remove yellow vinyl from fog lights and tint with kylon stained glass spray
-check why my driving/fog lights arent working :/
-remove all tint from corner lights and bumper turn signals and tint them jdm amber like how i had them before

Painted my wheels & wood trim install

Got a few updates now.
-Finally Painted my wheels, gloss black :D
-Took off my bull bar and mounted my driving lights on bumper
-also put a 3000k hid kit in the driving lights
-got my wood trim shifter piece in
-put my HID's back in my headlights (most likely retrofit coming in the summer)

How'd you mount the lights to the bumper? I have a 98 limited with a chrome bumper so I don't think I can do what you did. Lol.
Really liking what you've done with your runner stumbled across it on google looking for ideas for my corner lamps a and tail lights.
Got any info on the HID retrofit? I have both types of headlights so thinkin about doing it with one of the sets.
And have you done anything to your daytime running lights? I can't stand that my headlights are always on -.-

Since my runner is an 02 i have the fatlip bumper so there is a metal plate under the top plastic valence that allows for the lights to be mounted securly. But there are plenty of people that have added lights to the 96-98 bumper so it can be done. You would have to drill through the chrome. I would just mark spots equidistant from the center and first pilot drill, then use a larger bit to get the size you need. And thanks man! And I'm assuming you are referring to a projector retrofit? And after saving up some more money, I will be purchasing a complete hid projector retrofit kit from the retrofit source. Installation is a simple procedure, the hardest part will be baking the headlight and removing the glass. And i have disabled the DRL on my 4runner haha. I didn't like the lights on while driving either. There is a wire that can be cut to disable it

Yeah you know what I mean. :p saw someone else do it but the link to their write up was on an outdated page! You should definitely put up a write up to yours if you don't already have one :)
I kinda wanna black my whole truck out. Got a black 98 limited. So stock it bothers me haha. Anyways your build is some good motivation ill be sure to follow it. :p

Haha oh aite and I think I might have a few pics that I could add here of when i was installing the lights. I might be getting a brush guard soon, so the lights would go on that instead of the bumper. So If all of that ends up happening then I will definitely post some pics of how I installed them. And hmm you can't go wrong with black haha. and hmm as much as I am a fan of black (i hate chrome unless its a muscle car, then its fine :P), I think some things should be non-black. If you look on the 2nd page of my build thread I painted my corners to look like they do in the "JDM" scene. Real JDM corners are clear though. But I really digged the look of the amber on the green and black. I think that would look pretty sharp on black for sure. Also you could look into Red/Clear LED tail lights, but "red-out" the turn signal part of it? All black on black seems overkill to me but to each his/her own. But hey all you need is a bit of money and a lot of time and you can turn your truck from stock looking to something you really are proud of. And I appreciate the interest haha

even with that low of grit, after priming and painting you didn't notice any of your sanding lines did you? if you were to do it again.. would you have gone with a finer grit? or was 320 just right...

I read online that many people used 320 because its abrasive enough to sand down any bumps, but not rough enough to dig into the aluminum and leave gouges. It looked and felt pretty smooth to me, but I think what might have made a difference was that I used Self Etching Primer. I think on the back it says it's meant for Aluminum, so it like bit into the metal and provided a very excellent bonding surface. And If I were to do it again, I still think I would have used 320. It was doing the job just fine. It was really smooth before I put that primer on. I think 320 is just right, not too course, not too fine. It does a bit of both.
 
Woodgrain Radio Bezel

Got another update. I was strolling ebay and I found the wood grain radio bezel for relatively cheap and so I bought that and installed it today. I also painted that little metal guard thing around the cigarette lighter because it was faded, and now it looks good as new :D. I'm loving the look and now all I am missing is the front passenger wood grain switches.
Headed to Coffee & Cars tomorrow morning and afterwards I might be getting a brush guard. A guy on Craigslist wants to trade a brush guard for my bull bar, so hopefully I'll be driving home with a new to me brush guard :D

So I Bought a Brushguard

Well went to coffee & cars and had a great time, and I managed to pick up that brush guard ! It seems really heavy duty and I can't wait to repaint it then throw it on. But first i need to remove the plasti dip and paint the chrome part and repaint the plastic.
The craigslist guy's truck was huge! it had a 3" body lift on it and a 2 1/2" spacer lift on it so like 5 1/2 inches of lift total! but it was 2wd soo it wont make me feel bad when i lift mine. I ended up having to give him $30 and the bull bar for his brush guard because my bull bar was kinda scratched up and his brush guard was in pretty good condition.

Power Steering Flush & Brush Guard Install

Been awhile since I posted anything, few updates

-Backup camera stopped working, I troubleshooted it and I think it may be the video wire running from the back to the front, ordered up a new one and a right angle rca fitting.
-got the brush guard installed :D had to cut slits in the bumper to get it to fit, but oh well the brush guard covers it up well and this thing is damn study. I know it isn't anywhere near as protective as an ARB but it covers the appearance department just fine haha
-did a power steering flush on the truck, what an immediate difference! the old fluid looked like pepsi, new fluid red like it should be. she turns on dime and feels like new.

oh yea my jack stands dont go high enough so i needed to take off the wheels then lower it onto the jackstands, kinda risky. I'll probably invest in some taller more sturdy jack stands soon.

It looks a bit off, but it looks better in person. I might try and see if i can get it to line up better ( try different mounting holes etc.)
