Got everything JB welded together, just waiting on getting some 3m window sealant to seal them up. But I have a calculus 3 test on Tuesday so this will be put on hold till that night. I had to mount the shrouds and angel eyes in a back-asswards way, so I hope they hold up. If they don't guess I'll be baking them open again once I'm all said and done. But here is what they look like right now. I repainted the first shroud because it looked terrible compared to the second one I painted. Now they both look really good and have that perfect imperial jade mica color and flake

Finally finished my retrofit and installed the lights. I'm so happy with them. Amber angel eyes was a great idea. Here are the pics.

Updates

Aimed my headlights to an acceptable low beam height. Also met up with another member up here and got a slightly used BF Goodrich All Terrain full size spare Trunk key barrel broke for the second time and this time i used JB weld to put it back together, it isn't going anywhere lol. Got a new sticker and also hit 120K miles. She still feels good, although the shocks definitely feel worn out, so a lift maybe in the works sometime soon.

First Wheelin trip!

So I went wheeling for the first time this past saturday. I met up with a buddy who has 2000 4runner 4wd and we went to Down South Offroad Park. I had a blast and was very proud of what my 2wd was capable of. I had to get pulled out 3 times, but other than that she did great. Foot the floor and steer was how I made it through pretty much everything. Here are some pics of the trip.

I had a whole lot of fun but it would sure be nice to have a 4wd.... for now I'm going to look into an aussie locker for a rear or at least something that provides 100% lockup when there is slippage but behaves closely like an open diff on the street (no clicking, noise or tire chirping), suggestions are welcome! But I do want to eventually convert my truck to 4wd. After reading up on COB's build and looking into other people's threads the hardest part seems to be wiring and getting everything to work electronically. The diff, transmission, driveshaft, hubs, cv's seem to all go in just like they would on a 4wd but getting them to all function properly electronically is a whole nother story.

Front Leather Seats

So I pulled the trigger on a set of front leather seat covers off a limited wreck on eBay. They are definitely not in the best condition, they have tears and one of them has a burn mark which I have no idea how. The headrests are in perfect condition as well as the back of the seats where the pockets are. The driver side seat back is in great condition but the seat bottoms and the passenger side seat bottom isn't But I figure for the time being they will work and when I have the money I will get them reupholstered.

They are pretty comfortable compared to the cloth ones that were there before and so I think it was worth the effort and money.

Removed my front bumper

So after much thinking I decided to remove my front bumper and just run the brush guard in the front. This is going to be temporary because I have plans for the front that should happen sometime soon I also wired up my toggle switches for the light bars. The lower light i tapped into the cigarette light wiring. I also wired in new turn signals that I love however they aren't working properly so I could use some help with those. They are supposed to flash sequentially like mustang tailights and yes they do but after they flash normally they do a little half flash. It's like they are malfunctioning but working right. These lights are meant for a trailer, they have 3 wires on them and I only have 2 of them hooked up. I also cleaned up my engine bay from the mudding trip. It isn't like show car quality but it is definitely cleaner. But anyway here are some pics.

Updates

Just finished up the first semester of my sophomore year at A&M and I figured I'd update my build thread. So I have installed a Cobra 19 DX-IV, Firestik II, and a 80W PA speaker from amazon, and I am very happy with how everything turned out. Also awhile back I gave my old steering wheel cover to my dad for his truck because it didn't fit properly on my steering wheel. So I took a trip to walmart as a study break and came back with this thing haha. And also here are the pics of the cb radio install.

Updates

So I'm back in College Station again for my spring semester at Texas A&M and since I have class starting in about 8 hours I decided to update my build thread lol. I came back this past sunday and I already got a new mod done haha. Picked up a sport hood today, also known as the scoop hood. Sanded it down, rattle canned it and threw it on. The rattle can paint job is only temporary to get my by until I can afford to get it painted.During my winter break I also seafoamed the engine, cleaned and re-oiled my K&N air filter, changed the oil and got my tires rotated. Right before I drove up here I fully detailed the exterior of the 4runner wash, polish, wax and also threw on a few stickers. Here are some pics.

I got them off amazon. i just looked for whichever one's were on prime and had good reviews. The top one is a 41.5" and the bottom is a 20".

I used the slag factory mount. Downpour makes them. They are great! For wiring I just used a amazon wiring kit that includes a relay.

Finally Lifted her!

So after years of being on this forum and owning my 4runner I finally put a 3" lift on her.
Here is what I installed:
Tundra Bilstein 5100's front and rear from Wheeler's Offroad
Toyotec/Eibach 3" lift springs
OME 890 3" lift springs
Driver front extended stainless steel brake line from Wheeler's Offroad

Yet to do:
Alignment (tried to get it aligned but steering rack bushings and inner tie rods are shot, so I ordered up new parts for all that)
Panhard bar drop bracket
Passenger front, both rear extended stainless steel brake lines from Wheeler's Offroad

Measurements from center of wheel to fender:

Driver Front: 19 3/4"
Driver Rear: 19 3/4"
Passenger Front: 20 1/4"
Passenger Rear: 19 1/2"

So I got pretty much an even 3" lift all around.

Finally installed my Toytec Lifts sticker that I have always wanted haha

I couldn't install my passenger front brake line because I stripped the brake line nut and I need to replace that section now

She rides soooooo good. It's like I fell in love with her again. I can't wait to test her out on some trails.

Also in other random news. There was a career fair here at A&M yesterday and today. I went to the Toyota booth yesterday and after 5 mins of talking to the guy they offered me an interview for today. Well I went to the interview and immediately after they offered me a position as a co-op! I am beyond happy right now, so I thought the best way to handle that was to update my build thread haha!

Well after a month of slacking/being busy with school I Finally got a chance to get the alignment done. I went in to BCS lifts in college station the monday after I installed my lift to try and get the truck aligned but they said the tie rods and steering rack bushings needed to be replaced. So I did just that, I replaced the ITRE's, OTRE's, installed a Polyurethane Steering Rack bushing kit from Wheeler's Offroad, Rear Polyurethane Anti-Sway kit and 2nd gen rear sway bar end links. The truck drives awesome. It has never felt this good. Very nice ride on the road and it tracks straight. Only thing is there is a lot of slop in the steering wheel still. I can turn the wheel from almost 11-1 without it catching/turning the wheels. Idk if anyone here can chime in on that but here are the pics.

Apparently my thrust angle is fine so even though I ordered the panhard bar drop bracket from toytec, apparently I dont need it? I'll still hang on to it for now in case anything comes up but thats that. And I believe my very poor alignment explains why I've been getting like 11mpg since I put the lift on but I went to Atkins Toyota in the BCS area and ordered 6 OEM spark plugs and a TRD throttle body gasket for a total of about $35. I probably need to replace the upstream O2 sensor sometime soon just to rule that out since it is stock but its a $100 part so I may hold off on that. Hopefully my tax refund comes soon and a CBI hybrid front bumper might just show up one day at my doorstep

Also I think you may want to consider getting a K&N CONE Intake Protection Sleeve. Better known as a Filter Wrap. They are like $10 and will protect your cone from mud, dust and dirt when offroad. Put it on just before hitting the trail - especially if you are going to see some water or mud.

Thanks man! and I got those from ebay. I got them specifically because the truck that is etched on the switch is a 2014 tundra

Havent posted on here in awhile but I got a few updates for the truck as a few other things.
Got a set of tail light guards off ebay, always wanted a set and I saw the price was right, so I pulled the trigger.




Changed up my exhaust, took out the cherry bomb vortex and got a 8" glasspack welded in its place. I love it, should have gotten this setup from the start.



This was towards the end of my last semester and I needed a study break, so I went out with some buddies and we went mudding on one of their properties in College Station, best study break ever. I didn't stuck once. And it was raining all the while we were out there. One of the guys had a newer 2wd dodge pickup with the cummins in it, and he got stuck even with toyo M/Ts. Had to get pulled out by an f150. My yota went through the same thing with and had no trouble at all.



and the next day...




Had a little casualty with the brush guard, went through a dip and the bottom caught and it pushed it inwards into the passenger fender, so theres a few marks near the corner light where that happened. Later on the next week after I cleaned and gassed her up, I took her on a trail behind a local sams club and it was quite the nice trail. Didn't want to go to far in since I was by myself


After I washed her up, I felt like being patriotic and slapped on a few decals.

In non truck relevant updates, I am currently on my first college Co-Op. I am working in Vehicle Quality under the Quality Division for Toyota here at the TEMA location in Erlanger KY. It has been incredible so far and I can't wait to see how much more I can learn as I continue my term. Perks of the job include seeing the 2017 Tacomas up close and in person. Oh boy I know what new truck I've set my eyes on once I can afford it. So here is a pic of me after orientation

My dad apparently didnt want me driving my 4runner across the country, even though I'd never hesitate to, so he let me borrow his truck for the summer.

I know my folks plan on coming up here sometime within the next two months, so hopefully they can drive up here in my 4runner and drive the Tundra back. As nice as it is driving a near brand new truck on a daily basis, I miss my ole truck, nothing beats it in my opinion.
