So will a broken Knock Sensor keep it from running? somebody relocated the knock sensor to the outside instead of under the intake and now the wire broke off. Will it keep it from running or just throw a code?

First of all you need to post what year and engine you have as it states in the forum rules.
Sounds like to me if someone "relocated" a knock sensor you may have bigger problems. And I think it won't run without at least a signal from the sensor and that's true most any CPU controlled engine.

whoops its a 91 runner with a 3.0. Kinda weird they located it on the engine hoist ring on the drivers side head and looks like they abandoned the one on under the intake manifold. So if there is no signal coming from the knock sensor it won't start? What kind of signal is being generated from the knock sensor?
