Knockout game

I know this is a serious discussion, but I laughed my ass of at this: "When the attempted ‘hit” failed, the father simply pulled out his fully-registered and legal handgun, and calmly shot Weaver twice. Weaver was then imprisoned, given a trial and [pleaded] guilty to his crime."

I'm surprised the old man only shot him twice. He must have been in an agreeable mood.

im guessing after the 2nd shot, he was down on the ground, no longer a threat.

one person in that vid falls, and it looks like they smash their face right onto the curb.
quite literally, something like that could be deadly. also, I believe they said there have been some deaths from this BS.

I cant believe that anyone would think that could possibly be a game. That is right on the line between felony assault and attempted murder.

I wonder if he's spent more time at the range since then.

I am big supporter of conceal handgun, but to be honest, i am not sure if it would help. These guys come up from behind you...they can just stroll up in a non-threatening way without you even noticing. They likely will do so while you're distracted. You won't know what hit you. And if they fail to knock you out cold, then it may be enough for you be temporarily disoriented...at which time, pulling out your gun may not be the wisest thing.

The story about the guy shooting the kid is great...but he ONLY got the chance to do it because the kid's weapon malfunctioned. Otherwise, the guy would be on the ground as well with no chance.

Situation awareness is great idea, but waiting for your kid coming from school is distracting enough for many.

I don't know the answer to any of this...but just annoying that this crap is happening.

typically, those that carry have much better situational awareness. I think given a big enough sample, that would be apparent.

I was talking to my girl about this story a couple days ago. we both thought the same, these people getting knocked out are completely oblivious to their surroundings.

good for this woman!!!

As I've said in numerous other threads, CCW isn't allowed where I live. Maybe BS like this will change that one day.

Your link didnt work, so I found a new one:

Knockout Game: 60 Y.O. Woman Shoots/Kills 2 Teens - Mixed Martial Arts Forum

If she was being swarmed by 7 teens and she was unarmed, its pretty likely she would have been beaten to death. Thats just pure evil.

This "KnockOut" game is just pure depraved madness... and not in the psychotically insane kind that makes the USMC so useful, but in the idiotic way that locks up our government and destroys our freedom.

I honestly don't feel bad if some of those idiots get shot because they tried to assault another citizen, because that's what they are doing... Aggravated Assault and they should be at the very least treated like criminals if they are going to act like them.

Ingraham Battles O?Reilly Guest Over Media Ignoring Racially-Charged ?Knockout Games? | Mediaite

There is a disturbing trend now being noticed by a few news outlets this week called “knockout games.” These games supposedly involve young black men randomly attacking people on the street. Laura Ingraham battled O’Reilly Factor guest Jasmyne Cannick on Thursday over the media’s refusal to take on these racially-charged attacks in an honest way.

Cannick was hesitant to “generalize” and say this is a disturbing trend among young black males, saying the bigger question should be why they have all this free time on their hands to attack random strangers on the street. Ingraham jumped in to say she would likely be “generalizing” like that if the attacks were instigated by white kids. She said this “game” has already led to a few deaths, and civil rights leaders like Al Sharpton have been dead silent.

Brian Russell told Ingraham it’s because “this does not fit the mainstream media’s preferred narrative”; namely, that white people are always the bad guys and black people are just victims of profiling, which Russell argued is a racist sentiment in and of itself.

Cannick downplayed the media “hysteria” over these games, and even pointed to Fox, which set off a bewildered Ingraham. She asked, “You’re saying that Fox News is the problem?!”

You are right about that. Where I live, any shot to the head like that is considered a deadly assault. If you shot and killed someone from it, you would be completely covered by self-defense. One guy in Georgia just shot and killed a teenager the other week that broke into his house. He confronted the teenager and the teenager ran towards him, the guy felt threatened and shot him. He claimed self-defense and hasn't been charged with anything.

How come I have not seen Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton and Quanell X all over my television talking about this one? I suppose they will wait til a few of them are killed and then they will show up about young African Americans being oppressed and held down in America?

In my opinion things like this fall back to parents nowadays. I am only 30 but when I was growing up the "knockout game" (not litterally) is something my parents played when I wanted be bad.

I am waiting for Biden to say that one of the white folks assaulted was just like him 100 years ago!

It may be different where others are from but being born and raised in Texas, this game would not fly. I know in many places around the country people have a tendency to "look the other way" or not want to get involved in things or they have strict gun laws so nobody really thinks twice. In Texas if things like this were to happen in public they would likely get stomped out by a bystander, not to mention almost everyone carries a gun......

Armed society is polite society

I would have to say it does in fact change peoples perception. For example, typically you slow down when you see a police officer, not because he IS watching you but he MAY be watching you. Same scenario, you dont do stupid stuff like this not because people ARE armed but because they very well MAY be armed.
