Changing Tire Size or Wheels? Read this first!

So the wheels never came in and the order was cancelled. I went out to the Black Rhino website to look up other alternatives. I found a local shop with great reviews so I called them, they looked them up and found them in no time.

Their recommendation was to go with the zero offset which I did and so far they've been great. I put them on the stock tires for now and will change tires once ski season starts here in NorCal.

Biggest plus is that I now have a local shop for mods and have an order out for some rock sliders.

Nice! What width are those wheels?

So I got in touch with the dealer and switched my order to an ORP from a Limited. I liked all the stuff you got with the Limited but just didn't really care for the looks.

Anyway looking for wheels for an ORP and 265/70-17 tires. Found one I liked that is 8.5" wide and has a choice of 0 or +18 offset that's supposed to fit a 4Runner. Been reading and a few people seem to have minor rubbing with the 0 offset and stock size tires. The stock wheel offset on an OR is +15 so would an inch wider wheel with 3mm more offset fit or would the backspace be too much? 4.84" backspace for the stock wheels vs. 5.46" BS for the +18 and 4.75" for the +0.

What did you end up going with?

Had my 15TE at 1.75” with 1” cornfed rear and 275 Firestone Destination AT, really loved the stance and look.

Now have 22 ORP thinking of same same set up but sticking with stock 265’s.

Wondering if I’ll look goofy with stock size with lift/level of the Billies ?

Thanks for the write-up, it's a great introductory guide which clearly identifies the few paths upward.

Cheers!

I recently got pulled over going 73 in a 70 and I had my cruise control pinned at 70. With my 285/65/18s I knew my speedometer was supposed to be off 3-4.5%, but every single time I drove past a radar speed sign in a school zone or around a curve, it would always read exactly the same on my speedometer and the speed from the radar. Any guesses? I assume the police cruisers radar is more accurate and the math says that my speedometer should be off so in the future I will slow down. Any logical reason the street sign radar dictators report false numbers or is it just user error? No ticket, at least.

Did you have any issues with rubbing on those tires?
What tires/wheels do you have?
