TL;DR - China and Limited Lifetime Warranty

Time in business: 10 years according to their website. All of the standard info you'd look for seems to be posted there.

Also, there are a few youtube video reviews of them out there, one of which is a guy that does a followup of the tent after 1/2 years or something like that. I found them beneficial when assessing their quality/durability.

I looked into these type tents extensively trying to decide between Kodiak and others. As was suggested, lots of stuff out there to read and watch that can be informative. One thing to be aware of, jrandom suggests that Springbar are made in the USA, and that is true for a lot of the tents they manufacture, but the line that is priced similarly to the Kodiaks are made in China also. Just wanted to be sure to clarify that if thats important to your decision on this group buy. I didn't realize it until I'd been researching them for a while it's in a small text link on the order page for the tent. I think they are both great tents and really like the "springer" style over a traditional canvas cabin for ease of setup. It comes down to what tent has the features that best meet your needs. I like the Kodiak storage bag system so that sealed the deal for me. This is a great buy on the Kodiak for forum members.

Appreciate the additional POV. I'm looking for a tent that's going to last me long term and this one seems to fit the bill. I was looking at Springbar's and there were just a few details that the Kodiak had that the Springbar didn't. Just waiting for the model I'm wanting to come back in stock then I'm pulling the trigger.

I bought one last year at regular full price and just about been the best tent I have owned to date. After having used it, easy to recommend to others even at full price.

Only downside is that it is heavy, bulky, takes up a lot more room, but the upsides are well worth it.

That said, I still have a smaller lighter tent for the quick overnight trips when I am by myself. This is more of my multi-day setup.

My favorite thing about it is it keeps the fine desert sand out, and I can stand up in it no problem. The foot print and roof taper are pretty steep giving you a lot of usable room even if ur standing near a wall.

Gear loft, windows, and other accessories like the vents and wall organizer really add a nice touch.

You mentioned taking a smaller one out for the solo overnighters, would you take that one out for a solo weekend? I've only been limited to one tent until now but it's a coleman thats surprisingly still in the game but actually has a bigger footprint than the Kodiak I ordered. It's a 9x12 I think. The main reason I was ok with sacrificing a few square feet is because it's much more usable space like you mentioned.

The Deluxe came with more windows, vents, gear organizer and gear loft thing.

The ground tarp is a MUST HAVE... Keeps the entire tent bottom clean and dry, reducing the amount of crap stuck it to when you pack it back up.

Maybe I am just lame but it takes a while to setup, and a 2nd set of hands, at least for me, is needed. Driving down the stakes for both the tarp and tent, and the two main vertical poles require some strength as you are supporting the weight of all that material and the roof as you try and get the bottom pins into it.

I still have my Coleman which is what I upgraded from, but I bought a 2nd tent which was more of the light weight rip stop nylon that actually seals up too. Like those "Everest extreme weather tents"

It kinda looks like this, but its not this one... Its just cramped, cant stand up, but its good quality, easy to setup alone, and light / easy to pack.

As a desert camper anything that doesn't seal you end up with a 5 gallon bucks worth of fine sand and makes for a really uncomfortable stay.

Bottom line... a nice quality canvas tent is pure luxury when compared to a Coleman with a rain fly or something similar. Feels like im staying at the Ritz in comparison.

I gotcha. Our Coleman is definitely easier to set up with 2 folks, but I've managed with 1, I think it'd be similar here. I'm not a big guy but I'm looking forward to the continuous headroom and the general protection of a thicker canvas vs the nylon material from the Coleman. Not gonna lie, I feel kind of sad leaving it behind but I'll probably keep it around for when we've got a bigger group or whatever.

Just received mine yesterday. Unfortunately I'm going out of town for a week starting today so I haven't had a chance to fully inspect it.

First thoughts:
It's definitely weighty. Fully expected though and the fact that it's split into two packs (canvas and poles) makes it much more manageable even for the SO.

I like the idea of the little storage pieces that come with it. Makes it very versatile and able to be setup as needed.

Comes rolled up with the floor canvas being exposed - it feels very stout, very water resistance. Again, as expected.

Definitely happy that I'm getting a roof rack made - it'll be a perfect candidate to throw up top on a trip, but it will fit just fine in the back of the truck.

Real excited to put it through the paces on the next trip!
