In my first post to this forum I had mentioned a negative experience (actually two negative experiences with Koons Tysons Toyota in N. VA) when trying to buy a '04 Toyota 4Runner Limited V8 from them. Everyone from the salesman, sales manager to the finance person tried to swindle or cheat me in some way. Well, to that end I'm really glad I didn't buy from the "Koons Car Dynasty". The following are links to stories about a person who got swindled by the "Koons Car Dynasty" from reputable national news sources.

CNN
Washington Post
Google Search

If anyone in the N. VA/MD/Washinton, DC area is thinking about buying a car, I highly advise you avoid any Koons car dealerships. The alternative that I selected was FitzAuto Mall. Not only did I get a better price, but got more options!

Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience at Koons. I myself bought my 4Runner at Koons Tyson Toyota. However, I didn't go through the finance with Koons. Instead, I used my Credit Union Bank for 3.9% APR at that time.

Yes, It is true that Most of Salesman and Sale Managers are trying to give customers a lot of pressure. As long as you know the game of bargaining then you should be fine.

Before buying the vehicle I did come across this website Before I signed the paper, I crossed out the statements which means that I (consumer) will waive the right to sue or appeal—even if the dealership committed fraud.

For the peace of mind, IMO, just go to another dealership in your area such as: Billpage Toyota, Springfield Toyota, Ourisman Toyota which also give you free oil change at least 1 year.

Or you can drive to Laurel Carmax in Maryland for no haggling.

I drove from Tennessee up to Laurel to buy my Sport and am thinking about doing it again when the new V8's come out. It was easy fast and I knew what the cost of the car was going to be. There is a Carmax near me so I was able to get my car appraised and do some financing research prior to making the 7.5 hour drive and turned out their financing was better than what I was able to get through my credit union. I highly recommend making the drive to buy from them.

Koon's of Westminister MD trid this one on my soon to be wife..... Back in 91' she was looking for a new car for her and she wanted a Celica GT so we went to Koon's of westminister and they tried to say her credit was not good enough, now she was a college graduate with a public school teaching job. They told her she good have one of the less expensive Celica ST off the lot.

I said bullsh*t ad we left and went to Hanover Toyota and they laughed and said they must have had allot of Celica ST they needed to get rid of. needless to say we left with a better deal and a new Celica GT.

I will never deal with a KOON's dealer, They thought they had a couple of dumb kid's and lost a customer for life.

since then I have bought our
93 4Runner
T-100
MR2 Spyder
02 Highlander
All from Hanover Toyota.:D

Wow! I wished I knew about that website even before walking into that dealership. During the summer when shopping for my wife's '04 Spyder we did see that guy protesting in front of Koons Tysons Toyota. We didn't really pay much attention to him and went about our business. Luckily we didn't buy our Sypder from Koons Tysons Toyota (they were trying to sell us a brand new left over '03 Spyder with same options of the '04 Sypder we bought, but we ended up buying the '04 from KayJennings Springfield Toyota at a lower price).

One of the reasons I didn't buy my 4Runner from them was that I noticed a deep gouge (definitely couldn't be buffed out) to the rear gate and refused to buy that particular vehicle even though they said they would fix it. When I demanded they sell me another vehicle they refused and tried to force me to buy the damaged vehicle (luckily I didn't sign any paperwork even though they tried to pressure me on several occassions throughout the negotiating process). I sensed something fishy going on as to why they were trying to make me buy a damaged vehicle. So when they refused to sell me another 4Runner without damage, I walked out the door. They did contact me on 2 different occasions trying to get me back in via the "I'm the customer representative route", but I didn't buy the whole 2 bit act.

I have dealt with numerous car dealerships throughout my years and admittedly the majority of them were pretty sleazy. However with Koons Tysons Toyota, they didn't even try to hide their sleaziness and the level of sleaziness was too much for me to take. I hope enough legal recourse is taken against Koons for them to clean up their act, however I doubt that's going to happen. For the mean time I'm just going to keep spreading the word about Koons.
