Kraze and Blue's Trip...

Well the time has come to post everything up. Kraze was nice enough to invite me along on a trip to Kennedy Meadows/Monache Meadows up in the Sierra's with some of his old friends from the Ridgecrest area. Well needless to say it was a great time had by all. This year it has been very dry up in the high country and there are NO open fires at all allowed. So not having a camp fire at night was about the only down fall of the trip.

The fist night up was great although we didn't get there until midnight. No big deal since we are seasoned pro and the help of a big light bar to set up camp. The next day came and off on the trial drives. I will be posting more Pictures of the Monache Meadows when I get them for everyone(As I stated before it is very dry right now)

On our way back to camp from Monache we stooped in at the local store and noticed there was a party. Well it was the annual chilli cook off. Needless to say it was a great time.Live local band, all sorts of things to drink, and our all star team held there own at beer pong.

This was getting to the end of the trip and we started to make the trek back to the land of the concert jungle. Nine Mile road was interesting to say the least. You have a great view from up top all the way down to the base of the desert off 395. I also though that the rack on the Taco was pretty cool.

So we are cruising home down 395 and off to the right as we are going south is a large golf ball looking thing you can see for miles, of course we have to check this thing out right! The first thing we see is the Federal No Trespassing, that means this place is going to be cool, granted it is Sunday and no one works on holiday weekends! Anyhow, it is an old abandoned Federal Prison and an FAA control tower of some sorts.

On the way into this place we noticed that this Chevy Truck was changing a tire out and didn't give it much through. Well we spent a good 25 minutes up there looking around before getting back down to the 395. Well this guy was still there. Now this is the 395, if you are stuck or stranded you are pretty much Fed big time. There is nothing at all out there. We decided to go at least check on him and see if he was ok or needed a ride to the next town about ten miles south. Well come to find out his jack was just sinking in the dirt and he could not get the tire off. Hi-Lift in action time!

It took us about fifteen minutes to get him going and get some more air in his spear tire.(It took more time to get my hi-Lift off the truck than to change the tire out-Stupid thing) Non the less he was extremely great full for the help.

At this point we are getting back into So-Cal. Well maybe the rest of this should go into the stupid car thread but it is part of this trip. The team of FJ's I though were worth a picture because they gave a wave as they cruised by. Looked like they had a good weekend also. Enjoy everyone!

Ok Rob you happy now. So when you bringing your self down for a run. Bring some Nor-Cal guys and meet us in the middle. 4-5 hours for each of us and it would be a great trip for all.

LOL Yes I'm happy now. Looks like a fun trip! Once I button up the truck and get it solid I'd be down for a weekend trip. I woke up this morning and my rear axle had dumped all it's gear oil. Super. Gotta re-silicone it. Just another thing to add to the list. I'll let you know when I'm ready and we'll plan something! :cheers:

I like the setup! Definitely beats a ground pad, eh? Thats hilarious Buddy loves lying in the Eno- My dog was not real thrilled when I tried to sit him in mine.

How far of a drive was it total? That looks like a crazy long way to get into the woods. Nice mountains though. Looks a lot like western CO

It is a long drive up there(about 8 hours there and back at least), but to get away from all the rif raf you have to drive in Calie. It dose look allot like the western slope of Colorado. Have family in Glen Springs Wood area. It is at about 8-9,500 up there and higher. When there is water it is really pretty. There is another place you can only fly in or horse back. That is the next one I want to do.

It is God's country up there no question about it. I just wish we had some more rain up there. The rivers are very low and the grass is drying up and not much for the cows to graze on right now.

Ah yes, I drive through there quite a bit. Really awesome area. The mtns get rugged as hell down there- epic backcountry adventures all over the place.

Thats a long ass drive, but there is a lot of riff raff to escape, for sure. Dedication to getting out there!
