Got some more work done today. Due to the delay in the suspension shipping intent ahead with rust proofing stage 2.
This included new rubberized coating for the entire underside in the body panels, the outer frame coating up front, and the internal frame coating for the entire truck.
6 cans of 3m rubberized coating
4 cans of internal frame spray
1 can of chassis saver
It is a ton of work and prep however it is all done now and she is sitting for a couple of days to cure. Now for getting to the suspension replacement and other items of interest. The interior went pretty smoothly and I'm liking the ultragauge where I mounted it.
The headlights have been ordered and now it will be waiting on the mail so I can start working that project to its completion. Rx350 projectors will go in the outer and I will be retrofitting the interior with d2s 5.0 projectors from lightwerkz. The glass on the rx350 projectors has been upgraded to the StiR lens

Working hard on the headlights currently and I will compile everything on those after incomplete them.
My front bumper is on the way. I settled on the open top from NWTI and I am super excited to get down to welding them. A friend of mine went in for his tacoma and he has a 220 miller so I will definitely be welding up both bumpers at his house. I might have to take some of my stuff over there but it will feel great welding one 220 rig again. I've gotten used to my Hobart and it's a great little welder but I feel much more comfortable welding a bumper on a more powerful rig.
My arb skid plates are in. The plates are currently in the shed awaiting time for install. I need to drag out the hardware and match it up with stainless buttonhead bolts before I get it all done. Luckily I think I only have one bolt hole that needs to be retapped on the frame.
I have the dash cam 90% installed. I had to use some interesting things to mount the rear camera since the only two places to mount are the rear door right beside the window seal or inside the door on the headliner. Since the headliner wouldn't allow the camera to stick to it and the rear door required a crazy cable run I've opted to get a headliner mount for emergency lights so the camera can be securely mounted without the fear of linking cable to anything like that. I do fear that when the backup camera comes in that I will have to use the crazy camera run and put it centered under the wing....or on the license plate. Both require it to be run into the door.
My Atoto pro A6 is sitting in a box waiting for the stock amp interface and dash kit. From everything I've read it is comparable to the pioneer decks and is more responsive. The reason I picked this deck is because it has dual bluetooth channels for calls and audio plus it is an android based system so it will work well with my phone. It does mirroring and handles Waze internally which is nice.
There are a few led lights I've got coming in the mail and a few other goodies. I did pretty well on black friday but I still have to wait on the suspension from battleborn. As much as I got a great deal for the suspension it hasn't shipped yet because of the 650 springs that I paired for the front.

My 4runner interior is in many pieces right now. Lots going on but I didnt even want to take pictures lol. The atoto sounds great paired with the stock amp and hopefully I have some great progress pics tomorrow. Gotta get this thing back on the road.

This took a little bit of figuring but by far was the easiest part. Getting into the rear door was as simple as removing the two plastic panels. Removing the bolt that holds the strap in, and then using a small plastic pry bar to pop the panel out. Then it slides up just a little and comes right out. You'll want to remove the little black caps that are coincidentally right where you need to get an extension in with a 10mm to undo the rear handle assembly. Make sure you unplug it and pull that through gently. After that you will have the part in your hands and can easily start working on the tougher part. You don't have to remove the light but I was figuring out how to get everything off and where the wires went through for the license plate lights.
This is what the tailgate looks like with the rear handle removed. The far right hole is for the lock.....so don't reinstall the grommet there.
This is the handle assembly. It is all one piece except for the lock which pokes through and mounts from the back side of the door. All of the nuts are 10mm so find wherever that devil is hiding if you're trying to do this.
Next you will have to gently cut into the plug that goes through the tailgate. Now the wires have their own run and are sealed so you can't fit any other wires through. I simply cut a place for the new ones to lie.
Use a little heat to melt the rubber back around the wire gland and then tape liberally. This area sees a lot of water so you don't want any getting into the interior of the rear door. Then reinstall.
This is how it should look when you get everything completed and reinstall your license plate. Here is a link to the camera that I got. It has a small LED light surround for backing up at night. All of these cameras are pretty much wired up the same. I can't confirm but it might even work with the stock system.

Great job John...but hummm, I hate to tell you this but when you put it all back together you put the lift gate on upside down!!

Small update:
The steering wheel controls now work and the stereo that fits the dash is now in as well. The other one is going back. That radio surround fit like crap.
Only problem is there is a difference between the radio bezels much to my chagrin. I'll have to find one for the navigation fitting but all in all I am very pleased with the atoto a6. The functionality is good and it was easy enough to hook up.
Still chasing problems on the backup camera. Everything in my wiring is good so next time I get to open up the rear door again I'll be checking the camera.

I have Metallic Grey paint and this would blend well with my 4R. In Formfit's part description, they state "Excludes Sport Model". I have the 2007 Sport V8 model and I thought model year hoods were the same. Any idea why they exclude the sport model? I'll send them an email. Your's looks great, thanks for the info.

I have been neglecting this thread. Lots of things have gone on during the bad beer virus. Since I was home and I am unfortunate resident of Michigan I remained at home till like this week or something. Doesn't really matter at this point.
Suspension:
After waiting forever I finally got everything from BattleBorn.
Bilstein 6112 shocks with Eibach 700lbs springs up front. Installation was pretty easy once I figured out the no compressor method. I will be honest though getting the top nut on the springs was a tad trickier since I did not have a bumper sitting on it right now.
In the middle of the install I remembered I had Butyl Rubber so that was an easy mod.
I didn't take a whole lot of pics because this is still my dd. Time was of the essence. The rear was fairly easy but I remembered the use of my stock jack in getting the axle down far enough to get the b112 springs in. They were about 3“ longer than the stock ones.
Then I rolled it out for a little bit and then took care of the belly pans.
The arb plates are a very nice upgrade over stock but not as beefy as some of them available. My main goal was to protect a little more of the underbody from deer guts although I do still like to off road. This is the family model as it were.

The suspension settled and the ride improved but what really helped it was the bumper. Nwti open top. It comes in a very small package and I thought the price was very good for what it is.
The instructions were pretty good and as long as you take your time on the center pieces the wings will practically fall into place
Then I started to weld everything up and make it solid. I did full welds on the outside and stitched up the interior.

More pics from the building. Mostly grinding work and flapper disc stuff. I used a rustoleum primer and hammered topcoat. So far it is holding up well to the humidity and rain.
Tires will be coming sometime soon? The stockers are in pretty good shape and I hate to waste good tires. They will be replaced by the winter just because they are not great in the snow. It was pretty twitchy in the snow and a Toyota 4runner, and especially an awd, should not be twitchy in the snow lol.

The fed ex guy would have gotten a hug today if I saw him.
Nothing fancy on this besides the y pipe from urd. Walker stainless cat back will be going in behind everything so I don't get a drone from the setup. Lookimg forward to a couple of days straight in the garage installing this and welding up the tire carrier.

Got a lot of background work done for installation of the headlights. Added in some underhood lights as well.
I didn't install but she got some new shoes last week as well. The spare barely fit under but about half an inch. Ill be glad when the True North rear setups arrives and I can start building on that.
I've still got 3 more harnesses to complete for the headlights as well as a new drl circuit.
It looks like I will have everything complete by the first flake of snow. Ready for some ice fishing this winter up in Wisconsin.
