KYB Gas Adjust/GR2 vs Monroe shocks

Any comments on the KYB Gas Adjust? Good/bad? Worth the extra money? Good replacement shock for an 88? Vehicle is used both on and off road.

What about the GR2? Supposed to be a factory replacement. Is it still suitable for some offroading?

What about the cheapo Monroe yellow Gas-Matic shocks? I'd rather not spend unnecessary dollars. Will these things hold up off road at all?

KYB gas a just shocks are decent shocks for the street, I have them on my pickup at the moment. If you want even better then go with the KYB monomax, way better off road/rough road manners. I have no idea on any Monroe shocks, they used to be good but I don't hear of anyone running them for trucks/suvs these days.

My bud with the 1990 just put new Monroes on his rig (250K and his shocks appeared to be original - some "forcing" had to be done) about a week ago; He then got some Yokohama Geolandars on Toyota wheels off Craigslist for a good price and his ride improved dramatically. Are they the best? Heck no, but they were better than what he had and he didn't spend a ton of money on them. He was able to change the shocks himself, despite the cutting and banging. The whole disposition of his rig improved greatly - cornering, ride qulaity, etc.
