Finally after a year with driving my wife's old 2000 2WD Sr5 4runner I picked up a 2008 Limited 4WD Runner.

My love for 4Runner started with the old 2000 Sr5. I begin reviewing this thread and learning about overland builds and different trim levels of the 4Runner. I will say that I was hooked on 5th gen trail edition for a long time but did not want to spend all that money... So not to say I settled but I picked up a V8 Limited that I has all the bells and whistles. I will be building a mild overland/ Daily for this truck and plan to own it as long as will last.

I have already picked up some black weathertech's for the front and back seats. Still working on compiling a list of future mods.

Curious if any limited owner has removed the factory running boards and installed sliders while incorporating the lights that were on the factory boards. Thought this could be a cool mod for limited owners. Let me know what y'all think.

The problem is that the housings are part of the plastic overmold for the aluminum running boards. I don't see how you could do it and make it look nice to be honest. You're probably better off getting a single row waterproof LED pod and trying to make that look nice attached to the ends.

Also if it were my vehicle I'd ditch those god awful tacky center caps as soon as possible. Those particular wheels are actually one of the few XDs that actually look fairly nice, but those god awful center caps just make them look so tacky and cheap.

Great looking Limited though! I'm a bit jealous as I remember when my paint looked as goo as that! :lmao:

I agree with you about the center caps! I did removed them a couple days ago. Also, my tires are brand new so I will get my use out of them and probably throw on some 17's and sell these wheels off since their a bit big imo.
As for the sliders, I know I want some and now that you mention waterproof LED's all I would need are the wires. I wouldn't use the factory lights.

Added a K&N filter and weather tech floor mats today along with a good clay bar and polish. Today I learned that I must buy a polisher because it is exhausting doing it by hand.
